sorry QA, i bit on your thread name.
my little brother got a giant first degree sunburn on his back and he's in so much pain. he's not that little, but he's still my little brother and it hurts me so much to see him writhing and crying from being unable to do anything about the pain. he says it itches and burns all at once. his gf took him to the ER and they just told him to take benadryl. so he took 8 of them. he's still in unbearable pain. i cna just see it in his little eyes. i dont even know what to do other than slather aloe with lidocaine on him. it breaks my heart.

i'd be slapping his back by now and throwing sponges soaked in rubbing alcohol at him

i would do that if it were a normal sunburn. but this shit is serious. he's in real pain. and he's not a crybaby. he takes pain really well. he's learned to, after all the biking accidents he's had, to deal with a little nagging pain. i know this must be ridiculous. his doctor just called and said if he was developing blisters, he should go back to the ER. :(:(:(:(:(

did you try vinegar? It might neutralize the burn but I'm not sure if it'll work for a more severe sunburn
my mom used to do it for me when I was a kid

Definitely, vinegar helped for me. Put washcloths in cold water to make them cold, wring them out, and put room-temperature vinegar on them. Lay them out on his back, and let it sit. It will neutralize the burn and soothe him. He'll smell awful, but it does help.
How'd he get it so bad??

the stupid fucker fell asleep in the beach and his stupid gf let him sleep. it's not like we dont OBSESS over sunscreen in my family because we have a tendency to get lots of moles, so we have a whole shitload of spf45 sunscreen. but because he's stupid, he didnt use any or he used spf 15 or something gay like that. i would smack him, but it would hurt him more and i cant see him hurt anymore. i wanna give him my vicodins but im afraid he;s taken too many benadryls

Well yeah, but most people don't get it THAT severe. Even my worst sunburn, I had at least used SPF 8 and reapplied every 20 minutes. And that shit still burrrrned.
I STILL have the dark tan, and it was from May. Silver lining, I guess. :(

my brother is a rare white creature. he looks completely mexican in the face but the sunless parts of him remain milk-white. i guess thats what happens when you expose a milk-white part to the sun. ahh i took a benadryl too cause i was getting sneezy. now im sleepy. goodnight board.

When I was 20 was the first time I went to the ocean which was the first time I wore a bikini and that was the first time that various parts of me had seen the sun and I walked along the shorline, no sunblock, for maybe 6-7 hours, and I got a horrible sunburn. I was in bed for a few days and couldn't hold anything down. So after some of that I went to the ER and it was some country doctor who looked at me and said, "Your old bathing suit was much more conservative than your new one." and then he gave me a shot of penicillin. Which you have to take on your rear end and that was like the pinnacle of awfulness of that experience.
