I don't listen to this song very much at all, but it's always kind of made me wonder-where did that "YEAH!" at the very beginning of the song come from? I know it's a sample, since I've heard in a few Public Enemy songs, but I have no idea where it's from. Anyone know, or even a guess?

I always thought it was Adrocks voice, and would put money on it too...

I've heard it in two Public Enemy songs, and it also has a clip like it was taken from something else. I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure it's a sample. It also seems deeper than Adrock's voice.

Here We Go (Live at the Funhouse) - Run-DMC
It's on their album "Ultimate Run-DMC", it's actually DMC saying it.
It's been sampled to death by everyone.
What year was the release of this song? I had heard it recently in another rap song circa 1983 a couple of weeks ago.

Its not a sample. It may be Adrock but I always thought it was Yauch because of the gritty pitch.

CJ's right, its not that sample. Although that's very commonly used by DJs. The sample is "How Y'all Feel Out There. Ahhh Yeah", and then they go into the song. Its different from the one on Fight for Your Right, which I'm positive is not a sample. I'm pretty sure its Yauch.

It probably is Adrock, knowing how much they reference things it's probably just a "mention" of some of the other songs you guys brought up.

Me too. Beastiemania didn't mention a sample, and it's at the end of Girls not the begginning of FFYR. I just learned that. = /

There's no doubt in my mind that it's Adrock saying it. The sample you're hearing in those public enemy songs is a sample from FFYR.

Why don't they ever sing Fight For Your Right at their concerts?

That's what they got know for and often still are saddled with that song. Yauch thinks it's corny.

the last time they played "Fight for Your Right" was in 1987 in Madision Square Garden according to BeastieMania

as i posted, i always thought it was adrock since day one. how can people consider it to be yauch? just out of interest...only i don't think, and never have done, that it sounds at all like him.
anyway, the song doesn't suck. it has it's place on LTI quite nicely i think. no, i don't like that people who tend to know fuck-all about the beastie boys see that as their main legacy. of course that's ridiculous. but i know that, and so does everyone else whose a fan.
so basically... yeah it's a goof, but it's one that probably got plenty of fans and in all truthness really kick-started the beasties career. so some of them may have been complete jocks - notice how i'm stealing mca's description from the SOS booklet here - and some probably still are, but hey...that song played it's part and i respect that.
Right from day one I've always assumed it was Adrock responsible for "yeah".
As for LTI, it's a great record. It still gives me an energy buzz each time I hear it. :)
