I bet Downtown Julie Brown is plucking the hair off her goiter and rubbing a lemon on her liver spots to prepare for the big party.

Never in the history of Earth has so little taken in so much. MTV is better than House Odds in Las Vegas.

A vapid wasteland of 24/7/365 advertising and promotion.

i tuned into it and they were playin' that ADD video thing and run dmc were on, but they just play like 20 seconds and skip to the next one :/ (i understand that's the concept of the show but STILL--and TRL, what happened? show 5 seconds of a video and do a buncha weird stuff to kill time? huh?)

they only show WHOLE videos now when the world is asleep apparently. whenever you try watching it in daylight, it's REAL WORLD or something like that on. vh1 is dreadfully close to becoming that. but at least it still plays videos. sometimes.

oh well.

happy 25th mtv

rock on \m/

& start playing more videos! at least nine-tenths of one. is that too much to ask?

No, I'm sick of Christina Aguilara and Rihanna.

I'm so old. I actually remember watching MTV the moment it aired. I saw the moon man and knew that life would be forever altered.

I'm older. We had HBO before there was an MTV. HBO had "video jukebox" and I used to record it on videotape. We had a dish just for HBO. We didn't get cable until MTV was a year old.

We had HBO too but we never had a dish. Those HUGE dishes! Hahahaha! Remember those short films that HBO used to show in between movies? I loved those! Some of them were really awesome.

We had a dish because we stole HBO for years. I didn't understand that at the time (or even that it was wrong) but my older brother put a dish on top of the house as a treat for my dad. No one had HBO back then. It was cool, but I remember being homebound one weekend and every other movie was Seems Like Old Times.

I loved everything about HBO though. My first R-rated movies, my first videos, the crazy animated things they did before they played something new, the intro where you flew through a miniture town.

A few years into HBO, we got a letter in the mail saying that they had come around with a truck and figured out that we were stealing the signal and we had to pay $15 or $20 a month and we did till cable came.

That particular brother and I have never had a relationship, but he gave me HBO, use of his stereo receiver for 3 years, and his dented up but driveable '72 Plymouth Duster. It was turquoise (except where the paint was oxidized)

^that is what they played the moment it aired.
And Documad, the little hbo town! I kind of get a chill when I think of it. Just like I do when I see the Disney castle and Tinkerbell right before the Disney movie comes on.

I remember when they actually played music videos. I remember Kennedy and Martha Quinn and Duff.

Jeez, I remember Headbangers Ball even though I never watched it. I hated it. I was always pissed when it was on.

It used to be MTV. Now it's M-CRAP-PY.
