ladies, ladies, ladies.
oh my lordy! i didn't know it was possible to have b00bs this sore, man! dear sweet jesus.
i know you amazing women who have popped out babies are probably more well versed in this phenomenon. me - i've just started on the pill again and my new, thinks-that-it's-pregnant-due-to-the-barrage-of-hormones body may be suffering for its fake state of knocked-up ness.
man, it hurts. even, say, reaching over to the left with my right arm (er, you know, because sometimes your left arm is engaged or you are right handed or.. god.. who knows! i'm just giving an explanation as to why you might possibly use your right hand to do something that is located on your left) and the pressure on my breasts produces a lot of pain. drying your body in the morning. hugging people. lying in bed in a certain position. running!
some days i would like nothing more than to bind them up boys don't cry style with really, really tough bandages and keep them in a solid, non-moving, wrapped-up state forever.
gah! they feel really sore, unsexy, and just a nuisance.
i'm a card-carrying supporter of the loving your breasts-cause but at this very moment, i'm all: (n)

That sounds painful  I have to go back on the pill soon, and am not looking forward to it
The worst I can remember is when I had proper flu (not just a cold!!) and I was trying to get back to my house from campus and it was snowing and I thought my boobs and nips were frozen and going to fall off. I was in agony. Not pleasant

i wasn't fishing for sympathy, z, i mean; i only have sore tits.
i was just interested in the sore breast phenomenon. how can they be so sore when they don't actively do anything.. much.. at all.. really. (at least in girls without babies). it's almost akin to have sore nails. useless!

Eat strawberries, don't eat caffeine, limit salt intake? And maybe consider going off the pill entirely. Those things: so convenient but terribly bad news for a whole lot of women. :(

oh, why strawberries?

oh, why strawberries? They're a great diuretic. So if the pain is related to water retention, strawberries will help to release some of that water. Works really well for me and they taste great this time of the year. They're growing in my yard!

eh, it's not about that. but thanks for assuming! (y)
not that i really have to defend myself, but i am primarily on the pill because my doctor initially suspected that i could have amenorrhea, but upon the presentation of a (6 week late) period he said i should go on the pill to gain some regularity. the pill, as you may be aware, allows the taker to have "fake" periods every three weeks. thus taking away the crippling horror of thinking you are pregnant occasionally when you are not. it's just your womb not ticking to the right clock. am i allowed to do that?
and i fully intend to carry on using that other delightful method of contraception while on the pill. as nothing is 100% reliable, not least a condom.
enree: thanks for the advice! my colleague has said exactly the same thing. strawberries eh? might have a smoothie today.

that's fine, man, just don't assume that i'm going through all the sore tit nonsense just so i can have sex with a boy without a condom. it sounded aggressive.
but that's fine now. coo'!
well, we've all learnt something today! the pill and strawberries being a treatment for sore breasts!

Couldn't the guy just wear a condom instead?A quick google search reveals this statistic about the efficacy of condoms (alone) as birth control: Of 100 women whose partners use condoms typically,* 15 will become pregnant in the first year of use.
To me, those numbers are too risky to justify using condoms alone as birth control.
* "Typical" implies that the condom might be used incorrectly or inconsistently or used in combination with some other product that will reduce its efficacy.

oh, i'm sorry! i thought you were being sarcastic and pointing out the frivilous nature of my complaint! sorry hun. and sorry about your bodily pains, too!
i am just being over sensitive today :(.
and enree - you are totally right. using only condoms always scared the shit out of me before. you have to rely on someone else being cautious and the reliability of what is essentially just a thin piece of rubber between you and being SPERMINATED!

I "started" yesterday and for me, that day is the worst. Sore boobs (even a bump makes me wince), I get a bad headaches, and my entire body feels like it was beaten up several times.
It sucks. Sorry Claire. Feel better, pop some pain killers. (y)

a-z: yeah! exactly! hair, nails, boobs. totally useless. well, not entirely. i'm sure these body parts do have some use but still, i could do without. i should become.. a bald man with no nails! :)
sorry to here of your monthly time of crappyness, c. i'll be sure not to give you a big e-hug of joy next time i see you, hehe.

Maybe make sure you keep the no-breasts thing going if you go for the bald guy look. I saw a guy running, shirtless, yesterday and his man-breasts were bigger than my woman-breasts.

What would honestly possess someone to make a thread about their sore breasts?
Oh, this one time I had an achy right nut, and I thought I had a testicular torsion and I was really worried thinking my nut was going to shrivel up and die! And this can't happen, as I had my left nut removed when I got the cancer of it, and I need a working nut! You know, for man juice and shit!
i'm starting to believe you are a working nut. :D

It is amazing to me too how they can just hurt when they don't do anything.
I did not know about the strawberry thing, I have some in the fridge and will make use of them today.

my whole chest has been sore since february, but i guess that has its reasons.
every bra i've tried has felt uncomfortable. when i'm out jogging i hold my boobs with my hands (that must look pretty funny) so it hurts less when they bounce.
thankfully, they're not that big.

I did not know about the strawberry thing, I have some in the fridge and will make use of them today.I know! It's great because it's effective and tasty. :)
That strawberries thing, for me at least, seems to work best when I stay ahead of it a little bit. If I only start to eat strawberries just as I'm retaining water, then it's not as effective as when I do strawberries a few days before I expect to start retaining (and then continue eating them until whatever retention stops). It's weird like that for me but my sister can start to eat them at the peak of her bloatiness and it'll make a difference with her right away.
This woman I work with had headaches around her period predictably. Her doctor put her on a mild diuretic (not for the headaches but for something else) and a side effect of that diuretic: no more headaches. (She said the first time she started to take those pills, she peed out 6# in the first few hours. DAMN.)

Wow. I think that I retain a fair amount of water all the time. I do drink an awful lot of water. Is green tea a diuretic? I drink a lot of green tea too. Sometimes i take water pills around that time but it freaks me out and I start worrying about my kidneys and shit.

They're not what they used to be--they're great now.
Related to that, I saw an advertisement for a peppermint-scented running/exercise bra. Who would buy that. I know that studies show that you can go longer and harder if you breathe peppermint, but I wonder if infusing peppermint oil into a running bra is the logical next step.

Sometimes i take water pills around that time but it freaks me out and I start worrying about my kidneys and shit.I think it does. I drink a fair amount of it too, more in the summer than in the winter. In the winter, I drink hot ginger tea. Summer is usually a cooled-down green tea. I am having some right now. Yum because it's soupy outside and I'm about to go out into it.
I talked with my kid last night. The temperature where he is is 115 with the heat index--horrible humidity. Over the weekend, he had to do three 12-mile training runs carrying something like 50# of gear and he lost 13# and it has to all be be water loss because he has absolutely no body fat.

Man, I'll probably be a terrible mom and make my son into a sissyboy.
I can't imagine how hard it is for you to hear stuff like that and not go down there with a cooler full of water and some harsh words for his commanding officer.

At certain times of the day--dusk is best--if I close my eyes and force myself into just the right disposition and frame of mind, I absolutely see myself commandoing into that place and stealing him away. I have it mostly worked out, but there are flaws and kinks in my plan and so it stays stuck in my head. :) :)
He's going through this and it's amazing the things that have changed about him. It's tough to articulate it, but it's a bunch of positives. I've also learned a lot about myself as well. You think you know yourself and you never really do. Anyway, despite my misgivings about a lot of this, it has been and is a life-changing experience for the lot of us--for everyone in his life who loves him.
Life is surprisingly weird sometimes. :o

I wish my boobs would retain water at this time. Instead, my stomach just bloats, and it's enough to you can see a difference. The first day ESPECIALLY. It's annoying. It goes away sure, but still, it's not cool

Sex without condoms are worth the side effects from the pill. Luckily, I switched to Ortho-Lo and the amount of hormones is so small it doesn't affect me much at all. But my new insurance won't cover it, so I may have to switch to the Patch.
Either way, I always get sore tits certain times of the month even with the low-dose of hormones I'm on. They're never THAT bad, I mean it could be a lot worse. I really hope it doesn't get bad when I switch. :(

Same with me every other month. My stomach is normally fairly flat but when I have a bad-bloaty month--every other month or so--you can see it and it's worse to feel it.
