Since one of his excuses for his behavior was that the alcohol made him do it, they wanted to see if this guy would bash the Jews with that much alcohol... it only took the guy 4-5 drinks to reach the .12. For a self admitted alcoholic, 4-5 drinks wouldn't do shit basically. And, as shocked as I was, the producer did NOT bash the Jews when he reached that .12. He even passed sobriety tests.

The Jewish leaders finally used political pressure to get Pilate to have Jesus crucified, so some Romans and some Jewish people were directly responsible. But, theologically speaking, since Jesus died to save "the world," all races and creeds had a hand in it, so the point is moot.

This has never made sense to me. Set aside the fact that there are competing stories regarding the death of Jesus. And that the oldest book still in existance didn't flesh out the story as much as later books. And that none of those authors had first hand knowledge of anything. Anyhow:

Because someone wrote one version of the trial/death of Jesus in which some leaders of one small sect of competing sects of Jews encouraged the Romans to take action against Jesus for political motives would not, even if true, mean that "jews" in general were responsible for the death of Jesus. I mean, are all of the "Christians" going to be responsible for every death at the hands of a killer who happens to be Christian. And why aren't people still complaining about the descendants of the emperor who was actually in charge of the execution? I understand that for many centuries, Christian leaders (whether popes or kings or peasants) had loads reasons to want to hurt Jews and they wanted reasons to attack them in the name of their god, but the reasoning they try to draw from the bible has always been amazingly lame.

Anytime a public figure says a bunch of racist things -- and not just using a bad word, but spewing a line of racist reasoning, it's a pretty big deal. I mean, Elvis Costello has never lived down his drunk remarks, and that's been about 30 years ago?

Many people saw things in that movie that indicated a hatred for Jews as a race/religion. Many people thought it went outside the bounds of normal modern Christian theology. The most persuasive criticisms I read at the time were from learned Christians. It's certainly bound to be a matter of widespread interest when the guy behind the whole deal seems to confirm what many believed and he has denied.

But my understanding is that when the jews were given the choice of either releasing a killer, who Pilate hoped they would, or Jesus---And Jesus was chosen Pilate said Matthew 27:24-25 "I am innocent of this mans blood" then the jews responded "Let his blood be on us and our children" That peppered in with Paul in Acts~ chapter in verse escapes me trying to preach the good news to the jews and it falling on deaf ears and his saying If a village doesn't want to hear the good news then leave and wipe the dirt of your feet when you leave.
