So I have tickets to go see 2 artists I've been dying to see live... problem is, they're on the same damn night. Ugh. They're definately from two complete and other schools as you will note. I mean, one could say it's a no brainer... Gorilla Biscuits. They're legendary in some circles. But that was then, could they be that good now? Plus, the GB show is like an hour drive and the Sounds is right in town. I've really been wanting to see the Sounds and they're headlining one show here before heading back to Europe. I have a good buddy who'd almost give up his left nut to go in my place to this GB show. Ugh Ugh Ugh. But I really want to have my cake and eat it too. I wanna see both!!!!!!!!!! *stomps foot*

if your friends want s to go to GB give him/her the ticket and you go to the sounds since it would be easier for you.

Well, this GB show is a reunion. Old skool straight edge hardcore X This opportunity may never come again. I don't know what the live show will be like. I've never seen them, may be a chance of a lifetime or I may be over-romanticizing what it could be like. After all, that was then... what's it like now?

The Sounds are new and a little on the poppy side. They're from Sweden so I don't know when they may be around again. I've been jammin their new cd a bunch and died when I thought my only chance to see them was on some big obnoxious festival date. This headlining show is like a freak thing they just dropped on the fans and I hooked up GA floor tix. Could be a good time as well.

Hmmm... I wonder what DS will have to say about this? Queenie! Getchur Boy on the horn will ya? I have a music emergency! :p

(I know that's best served via a pm, but I'm just tryin to be cute)

Hmmm... I'm thinking Gorilla Biscuits, but again, it would've been cool to see 'em in the '80s, would they be as good today as then?

But this is only because I haven't heard the music of The Sounds (though I hear they're quite good).

However, I know the members of Gorilla Biscuits went on to other notable things (e.g. Quicksand, Rival Schools and others... they went a bit more on the emo side, which I guess is par for the course of lots of early hardcore straight-edge bands ;) ), so maybe they got some juice left in 'em still?

I hope I help...

I had a feeling you were going to say that... *sigh* what to do what to do... let's just let this poll go on and see what comes up. I sure hope to get some other's 2 cents. Thanks Droppin'! I value your opinion on this matter.

If Depeche Mode was playing the same night, I'd have an easier answer for you :D

I know nothing about them, but I have purchased tickets for two shows in the same night on a few occassions.

I'd probably decide based upon whether someone else wants your tickets because then the cumulative enjoyment will be higher.

Thank you for telling me that, now I know other smart minded gals out there with a passion for shows have pulled the same stunt. I shifted into panic mode and purchased the tix without giving it a second thought.

I like the idea of the 'cumulative enjoyment'... I'll definately be giving that a thought. My friend would have the biggest "mantenna" if I told him he could go to GB in my place. *sigh* (hahah, mantenna, thx boner thread (y) )

Figure it's fitting to quote Black Flag's "Can't Decide" for you ;)

Suns coming up and I cant decide
To spill my emotions or keep them inside
Go for a drive, go to the store
Im looking for something that cant be bought there

I always wear a smile
Because anything but a smile would make me have to explain
And they wouldnt understand anyway
I conceal my feelings so I wont have to explain
What I cant explain anyway

I cant decide
I cant decide
I cant decide anything

I cant decide
I cant decide
I cant decide anything

Every time I open my mouth
I always wish I had kept it shut
I gotta spill my guts - but I dont dare
I take a look around, I know that no one else cares

Suns coming up and I cant decide
To spill my emotions or keep them inside
Go for a drive, go to the store
Im looking for something that cant be bought there

I always wear a smile
Because anything but a smile would make me have to explain
And they wouldnt understand anyway

What I cant explain anyway

I cant decide

I cant decide anything

OMG I am sooooo happy I decided on the Gorilla Biscuits show. SHAME on me for doubting their potential this late in the game... shame, shame shame.

THEY TORE IT UP! Seriously when the horns intro kicked in like in the beginning of Start Today I got goose bumps all over my body. The hit the stage with such energy and you felt that there was no place else they'd rather be. Fuck it was awesome. And the fans, the hardcore fans that literally sing every last lyric and take the mic into the crowd and shit, ugh, sooo awesome. Literally some of the best moshing and stage diving I've ever ever seen. (and I've seen lots) Hahah, even older dudes just jumping I swear 10' into the air and swan diving into the crowd. 2 guys got up on stage and dove off hand in hand, hahah, and this other dude snapped a photo of the crowd mid air on his way down. Haha, as I was walking out, I walked right past this kid who had seriously like tons of blood dripping down his face! And he wasn't even phased by it, he looked so happy to have experienced it and literally BLED for the show.

I couldn't, absolutely could. not. keep my eyes off Walter almost the whole time, he seemed to be just sooooo into it. He's got this long kind of jesus hair and was wearing all white with a black GB cape type thing. He just looked adorable :o <3 and gave off the greatest vibe of any live musician I've ever seen. I mean it. (I saw him when Rival Schools played the ElRey theater here in LA, and he seemed 10x more into this GB show)

OK so best part of the whole thing, as if it could get better... a friend of mine from back in philly it turns out is friends with the drummer. So we got his phone number and shit and called him when we hit the venue. They were out of 7" records that I wanted to buy and we told him, so he came out and met us and gave us a 7" SIGNED just then by each band member! FUCK, I'm so happy and stuff. I literally look like this guy -->:D

I'm off to go stare at my 7".... sigh. (y)

I'm into music. Period. You big jerk. Yes, I think it's pretty cool to have a 7" signed by the band, they just went ahead and did it to be cool. Nice avatar btw. Your pretty hardcore coming up in this thread and talking trash you know. Can I have your autograph? Come on now.

08-22-2006, 03:05 PM
Even when Jenny fights back she says "big jerk" instead of something really mean. :p

I would love a signed 7" by a beloved artist. I even treasure my unsigned ones.

Jenny, how in the world did you go from not knowing which one to see to going back stage and getting a free memento?

does it bum you out when you remember that your straightedgeness is really only a phase and that in a few years you're going to be an alcohol and drug user like the rest of society? your self righteous rhetoric and lame tats are going to look pretty stupid then.
