Anyone seen it yet? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZBt9WPy1n4)

The trailer was b'dass but I felt the movie wasn't as great. It's supposed to be a trilogy so I hope it gets better.

I wanted to see it when it was released to the theaters around here but it was gone before I got the chance. I should check to see if its on netflix yet.

Hopefully the next two won't take as long to make it to the states as this one did.

i loved it.

Tell me more about it. I saw the preview in theaters here in like 2004 or something and at the time I thought it looked really cool.

Its in russian, right?

Good chance for me to practice my skillz.

It was very much like a comic book. It was good, I liked the story but not the ending. I thought the ending was cheesey. It's not really my kind of movie. I'm more of an Ernest Goes to Jail kinda girl.

people only think its good because its Russian, if hollywood had made it everyone would hate it.

the trailer was aimed at a US audience and so it played up all the aspects that appeal to Americans.

note how there's no dialogue in the trailer. foreign languages deter the American. it's just too much effort for many of them.

anyway, the film is great. the 2nd installment is supposed to be even better, but the third is rumoured to have got US money from the start so who knows what that'll result in.

i saw the film a while ago and loved it. But i'm reading the book atm and there's some major discrepencies in the film. The book explains the whole Svetlana/Vortex situation alot better. I'm not sure if the version i have is all 3 stories in one, coz the first part of the book covers what's in the movie, and the 2nd part is not in the film at all.

I'm keen for Day Watch tho. It was released in Russia at the begining of the year and i dont know when it comes out over here. I've heard that Dusk/Twilight Watch is going to be filmed in english too. And now that the 4th book Final Watch has been written hopefully hopefully they'll make a 4th film too

Oh damn, replies! Yeah I need to get into the books. I failed to mention that I was really really really excited about the trailer. I like the movie.

i just saw this (night watch) a few weeks ago at a mates house. I thought it was ok, I didn't really get it all, partially because i wasn't paying attention the whole time. it was ok, but I tend to agree with what beckalina wrote.

I found the book in a Las Vegas hotel room and am reading it as we speak. Not bad at all.

The torrent of Day Watch (Dnevnoy Dozor) has been out with English subtitles. Check the usual suspects...

they had a few of those at russian film festival i went to last week. really wish i went to a few more of the flicks they had on.

anyway, i saw the non russian version of dnevnoi dozor last week at the film festival and it made alot more sense this time around. a fair few scene's were deleted plus there was a different intro to explain a few things like why svetlana becomes a major character all of a sudden. subtitles were much much better too. i loved how they were animated, like words would be bouncing when someone was playing the drums and shit like that.

still, it's totally different to the book, especially the ending, i have no idea how they're going to tie in the third one, especially when there's a good chance Konstantin Khabensky (Anton) wont be in it.

overall it was really good and well done for the budget they had. i liked it more than night watch
