Yes.

"Mostly" because if you are using powder detergent, you should use warm/hot water to make sure all of the soap dissolves and does an effective job of cleaning. The down side is that this is harder on the fabrics.

If you are using liquid soap, stick to your game initial game plan since the liquid detergent is utlized more efficiently anyways.

put everything together and throw em' into the washer. Dry them the same way.
