Hey, you're the one who likes 50 Cent.

I like select tracks from Guess Whos Back, Power of the Dollar, and Get Rich. Personally if dude got hit by a truck I would be fine with that.

However, to sit around and discuss how "50 cent is ruining hip-hop!!!!!!!!!!!!" and deny the fact that dude made a few really hot tracks is retarded, plain and simple.

I'm not saying he ruined hip hop, I'm saying he's like the commercialized, caricatured poster boy that epitomises everything bad about hip hop. Why can't these 12 year old kids be listening to Nas or Rakim and learning what hip hop is truly about.

Nas and 50 cents track records of good vs shitty songs probably work out to roughly the same percentage considering Nas has dropped multiple albums and mixtapes and has maybe 40 hot songs total.

but dont you worry, that next nas joint will be hot! he promises!

Aside from Illmatic, Nas has done nothing that is particularly astounding. Just a bunch of crap where he swears up and down he "still got it" and hes "stillmatic" but fails to prove that.

You know what I mean, he represents many people's perception of hip hop as a genre. It's like the Pope with Catholicism. I mean, the new one is an ex-Hitler Youth Star Wars Emperor lookalike... but yeah I guess there are still lots of cool Catholics.

The Notorious LOL

ok, what's a backpacker

it's a term for new-age underground hip-hop purists...who prefer underground and indie rap acts to the mainstream.... claiming that these acts are more intelligent, articulate and creative.

and they literaly Do (or a least did) carry around backpacks for some retarded fashion trend reason.
it's true...one of my buddies was an orthydox backbacker....he wore his backpack to everyshow....everywhere he went....and loved Anticon and antipop consortium and DJ vaddim....

i'm pretty much in between backpackers and mainstreamers...

i got some.

people wanna be music fans, but cant see the good in some things cause they too busy tryin to look 'cool', and are scared to have fun. for what it is fiddy makes decent shit. its not beethoven, but what is? if you want ignant club shit, go fifty.

maybe you should worry less about what people might tink of you for lightening up (hey i hear the beastie boys do that sometimes) and just get the fukk over it.

i see how people think hes wack, but seriously on a beastie boys forum its kinda a pot and kettle deal yo.

It didn't set itself apart from any other rap album released

that first outkast album completely set itself apart from the rap scene at the time. if that album didnt then theres is absolutely no other record worth talking about that did itself apart, none.

so yeah, i just quoted from some other thread and should probably stick to the current topic. the black man a.k.a. 50 cent is gOD.

Honestly, I know none of his songs besides what I've heard on the radio such as In da Club is it? There's another one but don't remember the name.

They're not too bad I guess and when I go to clubs and they play them, they get the crowd hyped. Could be the reason why I don't go to clubs too often.

i was at a vanilla ice concert, and people threw bottles at him for the entire show. he was cool about it, he just threw them back. then when his asian manservant came out with a broom in the middle of a song he took the broom and threw it at the audience and yelled at the asian guy.

i dunno how much he got paid for that, it was a free concert.

after the show i saw people getting carted out on stretchers, they got hit by some of the bottles. how bad is that? getting knocked out at a vanilla ice show?

[QUOTE=Bob]he couldn't solve a concussion though,

see, now the vanilla ice hate i don't really get. The way i see things, he was 19, his stuff pre Ice Ice Baby can't have been so bad as he used to tour with PE. Record company approaches, says go a little pop for all these millions of dollars, so he did it. You can't blame him for that. What 19 year old would turn an offer down like that ? Fair enough his music wasn't my cup of tea, but who had the last laugh ? Me giving him the gas face in my b-boy stance or him with all his millions of dollars ? Sure he gets clowned but would you care ? I don't think i would

now, back to Fiddy

hey whoa, i don't hate vanilla ice, i just think he's kind of a joke. he's got a good sense of humor about it though, i like the guy.

he does heavy metal now, or rapcore, or i dunno what the hell he calls it but it's pretty lame. when he did ice ice baby at the show though, he used the old beat. once the beat started, the crowd just fucking erupted (still kept throwing bottles though). he just shut up and let the crowd sing the entire first verse, you could kind of see him swallow his pride, it was pretty funny. he let some kids get up and stand on the speaker, too.

i actually have a video of the concert on my computer at home, i wish i could get it on here, it's pretty LOL. it was a really fun show. i wasn't even drunk.
