I'd agree with that, I guess.

But, almost all of the negative stuff i've 'learned' about America has been generated by Americans.

All the people i've met from Europe and Asia don't have negative things to say about America, but the Americans i've met have been only too happy to 'make fun of' America and talk at length about what is wrong with it's political/economic/social policies.

I just get the impression that Americans are divided into two groups - the fierce patriots and the "michael moores". Which i'm sure is probably wrong...

alot of us don't seem to care at all, we just want to live our lives and shut out all the controversy. i seem to find myself doing that more and more, unfortunately. that'll bite me in the ass, no doubt.

i'm kinda relieved to know that the americans you've met are unhappy with america's problems...i'm always worried that the americans that go overseas are walking around being loud assholes and giving the lot of us a bad image.
