We get it off, it's a state holiday. I think we're the last state to still have it as a Holiday.
Not because we love WW2, but because Rhode Islanders are a lazy, lazy people in general.
They should rename it "Go Sailing instead of Working" day.
That does seem like kind of a shady holiday. I guess if Japan doesn't mind...

replace the Pearl Harbor shirts with Jimmy Buffet Shirts or those golf shirts with the multicolored shark on the chest, add boat shoes and cheap booze...and, yes they do.

Fuck that Japan doesn't get a vote they lost. Anyway I don't think the holiday is to celebrate killing Japanese I think it's to celebrate the end of the war/killing as well as to honor those who gave their lives.

Fewer Rhode Islanders died in all of the Second World War than the total of Americans killed during the attack on Pearl Harbour. But who's counting?

I'm pretty sure it's to honor all WW2 vets....

I'm sure the New Yorkers and Californians who fought the war are grateful for their commemoration in Rhode Island.
