It's kind of embarrassing. It always seems to come out when I'm in a boardroom making a presentation. I might slip a 'ya'll' or slang the back of some of my words.
then people look at me like I'm trailer trash or a retard.
If I'm in a meeting with a bunch of southern folks though, it seems to smooth things over, all cozy like.

I don't want to. I kind of like my accent. It comes out when I'm drinking too. Chicks dig it.

Evvvvery now and then a "y'all" slips out when I speak. And that's from only about six months in Kentucky 17 years ago.

it's cute. i love when my bf's accent shows up. he's lost a lot of it since moving here, and he was from a big city area so it wasn't all that thick anyway. but every once in a while he'll catch himself, and say, "wow, that was really southern." and at work they called him Peach for the first year or so because he calls everyone Sir or Ma'am. my family LOVES that. it is pretty cute.

you wouldn't be embarrassed if it wasn't for dr phil and bush
Try yelling something out loud like "BYE!" without using an accent. I dare ya.
