I'm in law school right now. I bludge all day and do very little work except before an essay/exam, and get low 70s out of 100, which is bang on average! WOOT! (y) Maybe you need to come out here to Australia, bob.

^ you know that's pretty true. the people ive seen do most the work and most the studying in school have been the art (and photo) students and the architecture students. my bro is an art student, formerly history, and he spends more time in labs and studio now than he ever spent studying for history.
hmm. maybe everyone's just been trying to scare me. i have friends who are in law school, and they said "i wish i could prepare you for how hard it's going to be, but i really can't". then my mom bought me this book that's for people who are considering/in law school, and it tells you that you're going to be spending all your free time studying and reading and all that.
i'm still gonna play it safe and believe it, but i guess it's a relief to know that it's not as bad as they say it's gonna be.
still gonna be hard though, i bet

Well it probably is as bad over there as your friends and family make out. I'm in Australia though and we are generally bludgers.

I think the first year is a little shocking and a little easier than I expected. They expect you to read more than you've ever been expected to read. Primetime tv will be a luxury of the past. Getting called on in a class of 100 is daunting, especially considering that the professor will make you think you're wrong. But it's nothing you can't do, obviously you're able to do the work if they accepted you at the school. For the first month, the brain expands. Then it goes back to semi-normalcy. It's not that hard, you just have to be a little anti-social during the weekends in the beginning. And during finals time, write down EVERYTHING YOU KNOW.

the best thing I did at Art in school was a picture of The Incredible Hulk. I wished I'd kept it
yeah, that sounds pretty consistent with what i've been hearing, actually. i don't have much of a social life to begin with, plus i don't really know anyone in boston (finally, being a loser is an advantage!), so i don't think i'm going to find the social aspect too depressing.
it sounds kinda like boot camp for the mind; they break you down and build you back up to think like a lawyer. i've never even been to boot camp for the body though, so maybe that's an inappropriate analogy.
i'll be alright though, i'm pretty good at school
