I read in the RED EYE newspaper (8/7/06) that MIKE D was spotted in Chicago over the weekend at the Hard Rock Hotel. I'm guessing he was here to see MMM perform at Lollapalooza.
Not much else in the article, just a spotting.....

Not sure if it's true - that's what I heard

Mike prolly wasn't even there. It was Perry I bet.

Perry was, Mike D wasn't.

I went to the lolla wrap up after party at the Hard Rock and the only celebrity that was there was Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy. He had a DJ set. Kill Hanna was there as well. . .

Sounds like journalist LIZ CROKIN at the RED EYE couldn't spot Mike D if he landed on her face and wiggled.

MMM was scheduled to play at the Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday...the day before he performed at Lolla.

I knew I should have gone.

I saw MMM's set at Lollapalloza - I did not see Mike D there. Here is what happened:

MMM's set was 6pm-8pm on Sunday night at the small "Mindfield" stage, where they had DJ sets and comedy shows. I knew something was up because there were lots of press and video camera operators around this small stage when I got there (they are filming for a DVD). They handed-out plastic champagne glasses to the crowd right before 6, and we were all like, what is going on? Then Perry Ferrell comes out and introduces MMM (snubbing QOTSA and Wilco, who were playing at the same time, haha), and they toasted the crowd with champagne on a successful festival. Perry also brought some of his new band "Satellite Party" on stage and promised to play live next year, then proceeded to play a new song over the PA (called "I Just Want to Celebrate" - or something like that). Perry brought-out a cake and had us sing Happy Birthday to one of his band members, Carl. Then Perry introduced MMM as 'the best DJ on the planet' and MMM went into his 2 hour set. Perry stayed for a while, danced and poured more champagne on the crowd.

MMM's set, of course, was awesome. There were maybe 200 people at the most, and I was right in front of the stage the whole time. It was definitely the highlight of the festival for me!

i'm so pissed that lollapalooza was in chicago good for the chicago residents but not good for me cuz i live in L.A


so much music so many people so much energy & i wasn't there!:(

if lollapalooza ever comes here i would make sure not to miss it!!!!!

it wud be even better if when it does come here the beastie boys will perform:D

So here are some pics. My pics of Perry were too dark - it was very shady in that area and I didn't want to flash in their faces. They turned on the stage lights later on, so I got a few of MMM only. Anyways, notice the champagne bottles.

interesting to note (well to me anyway) that hes back to using technics 1200s, i thought he had a sponsorship deal with vestax? hes used vestax for quite a few years now. can anyone shed light on the subject?

that's funny that Mike and Perry have the same hairdo.
I guess i could see how someone who "isn't in the know" might confuse the two.
