View Full Version : wear it with Jeans

I have this friend, Dawn, and she's my coworker and she's really nice but I have to be careful expressing opinions on things around her because we really disagree most of the time. Like movies, music, politics, food, cars, fashion...

Anyway she's one of those "wear it with jeans" girls. No matter what you're wearing you can wear it with jeans. Fancy silk shirt, satin stilettos, diamond tiara, lingerie..."And you can wear it with jeans!"

We don't have casual Friday but on the last Friday of the month we have DENIM DAY, Dawn implemented, which means you can wear jeans if you donate $5 to the childrens hospital.

I don't like jeans. I have one stretchy pair I got at someplace like Pacific Sunwear, that's more like a pair of heavy canvas pants than jeans and I have corduroys, lots of 'em. But jeans I don't do. It is almost impossible for me to find a pair of jeans that looks good on me AND doesn't make me feel like my hips and thighs are in an iron lung.

And I really don't like the whole WEAR IT WITH JEANS trend that extends to things that would otherwise be seen as evening style. It's like, in theory you take something fancy and wear it with jeans so it's casual. It's not for me. Jeans are not evening wear unless maybe you have to ride a horse to the party.

Jeans. They don't look good. They don't feel good. Not on me. Other people look great in them, sometimes. I don't have a jeans body.

What brand do you wear?

seven's are nice on the booty.
abercrombie's are REALLY nice on the booty and the thighs.
dkny's premiums are really nice on the hips/thighs/legs.

this is hilarious! haha.
i agree with the jeans body thing. i haven't worn a pair of jeans this millenium. true story! i don't even try to shop for them anymore, because the experience of getting undressed and then trying on jeans which don't fit and look horrible infront of mirrors is quite horrible. they don't make them for tall girls with asses, man. jesus. and denim is so heavy and nasty, anyway.

infact, i don't even wear anything remotely trouser-ish anymore. tailored skirts and dresses all the way!

I think it's a little sad that half of my blue jeans came from Aeropostale. :o It's so easy to find great fits in the guy's section. And not that I'm a fashionista or anything but the darker pairs of jeans seem to be more appropriate at parties. The lighter the jeans the more hillbilly you come off as. I do have a brown pair of corduroys though. They're only doable during the winter months, unfortunately. I must say that corduroys make a woman's behind look 50% more fondleable.

^yeah, light jeans suck. all mine are too light, i look ridiculous in 'em

i've been meaning to buy new jeans. i don't wear them because none of the ones i own are comfortable. they're too tight and the pockets are too damn small.

i need a good pair of comfortable jeans with reasonably sized pockets (able to carry walllet, cash, keys, cell phone, maybe an MP3 player without scraping your hands trying to reach in). really annoying. i dunno what all the styles are though. loose fit, relaxed fit, 501's, boot cut, it's all greek to me

Guys usually look good in jeans because they don't have hips. I have one of the most awesome butts on earth, seriously, and jeans usually just do something weird to it like make it look flat or wide or as if my back is dragging its feet. Back pocket placement is really important. Have you ever noticed how a lot of jeans that fit in the butt have back pockets that are more on the backs of your thighs?

From that site.
"Minimize Wide Hips
Pockets that sit at the hips add extra girth.
Curved side seams slim hips and thighs.
Width at the ankles makes hips look narrower in comparison."

What kind of pockets on jeans don't sit at the hips? And the last one is misleading. Flares and bellbottoms make hips look wider because they create an hourglass shape going from your ankles to your hips. Bootlegs are most flattering.

i have this great pair i got at UO. the skinny jeans. those actually look really great with my body shape. it's hard for me to find jeans that look right on me. they were the most i've ever spend on jeans. before that i had two pairs of some mossimo crap i got at target, and they were perfect. but i've been losing weight this hole year, so all of those are loose on me now. looks like it's time for some forever 21 therapy.

Well I'm usually a 7/8 but they run in European sizes so it's like what a 28-30? I like the MOD Derek style....they have only a few styles but they come in several washes.

Pauli-their skinny jeans DO have small feet holes...but I have thunder theighs so the skinny jean is not something I can wear because I look like a stuffed sausage in them.

yea im very anti the skinny-leg thing. only the ladies that lack the hips and thighs can wear them, and i die of jealousy because they look good on them. i have big ol hips and thighs and i look great in skirts, so blargh. Don't wear Mudd, Paris Blues, or any of that tweener crap.

Around here jeans are kind of a uniform. Seattle is not a city that really does formal. Hell, we stretch "business casual" to its absolute limit. So I wear jeans a lot.

Citizens of Humanity are my favs, though they're pricey and they just redid their style. Hopefully they'll continue to make the old ones.

Others that are good are

Rock and Republic, Miss Sixty, and A&G.

The thing about designer jeans is they last forever and they maintain their shape.

I've had my current pair of Citizens for 2 years and I wear them at least 2-3 times a week. They look mostly the same as when I bought them and fit like they were tailored to my body. Yes, they cost $150, but if I had bought something cheaper I probably would have needed new ones inside a year, maybe less. In the long run, it isn't that much more expensive.

Ew I know what you mean Denise, them fat girls that wear tight hip huggers and their fat rolls are hangin over and the ass looks all bunched up. It just looks sooo uncomfortable. I don't like the feeling of tight jeans, I wear them sorta baggy. Not really baggy, just loose-fitting.

muffin tops are when your fat is rolling out the top of your tigh pants. It looks like a real muffin.

this is hilarious! haha.
i agree with the jeans body thing. i haven't worn a pair of jeans this millenium. true story! i don't even try to shop for them anymore, because the experience of getting undressed and then trying on jeans which don't fit and look horrible infront of mirrors is quite horrible. they don't make them for tall girls with asses, man. jesus.

we must be sisters! :(

This thread has made David Bowie's 'Blue Jean' song appear in my head

Sometimes I wonder what it would have sounded like without a saxaphone

I don't like jeans. I have one stretchy pair I got at someplace like Pacific Sunwear
this is your problem right here.

stretchy jeans? ffs, what decade are you living in up there?

My wife bought stretchy jeans but she is very pregnant. She pulls them up over her belly. I call them her jackass pants.

i'm actually really glad that skinny jeans are in style right now, because those are really flattering on me. i can't tell you how elated i am that the damned bohemian trend is finally dying a painful death. i hated that shit. now i can finally buy clothes i like again.

(one thing really nice about losing a few pounds - my old jeans that were tight now fit me PERFECTLY and when trying on some new pairs today - i wore a 7!! A SEVEN!! I HAVEN'T BEEN A 7 SINCE I WAS 16! OMFG)

Not liking volleyball is sort of like not liking mini golf. People are like "what's wrong with you?"

If that stament beings with a "Like, OMG" then you should totally pull a femi-wedgie.

I wouldn't like that comment though. The way it's worded... what's wrong with you. It's as though you're into country music or something bad like that. Because liking country music is WRONG! ;)

It's so easy to find great fits in the guy's section.

you reckon?
i find it impossible to find good jeans.
they either don't fit well or have gammy abrasions and fades etc.
but anyway i am currently wearing some wrangler blue bells.

Come on, a lot of jeans have stretch in them. They're not like spandex or something. I save my spandex pants for Sundays. The high sheen makes them dressier.

Low-rise is only a construct of your mind.

A corset worn with jeans looks kinda slutty.

I changed my mind about evening jeans though, if you wear crisp dark, dark denim high waisted skin tight jeans with some glittery threads woven throughout, with a metallic tube top and platform sandals, then it's okay.

Bad slutty or good slutty?

I thought there was only one slutty. In the case of two, it's bad slutty.

Hahaha. That's so precious. That's like thinking there's only one kind of protein supplement for developing big muscular biceps like mine. Hahaha
