My gas stove was disconnected and it might be off for a month. I have a microwave and a toaster oven. I have a lot of eggs because there was a two-for-one deal at the store. Poor planning.

there's an invention called the 'egg wave' that lets you do that. i know nothing about it except that david cross made fun of it in a stand up routine.

but yes, apparently, you can.

my brother put a shelled one in the microwave once to watch it explode. My mom was on the phone at the time and jumped off her chair mid conversation, yet it did not interrupt the flow of her talking. It was lol.

That sounds like a Dr. Robotnik weapon.

Yes you can, head to a store that sells tupperware and you can pick up special lttle cup type things made for nuking eggs, or you could do it in a small bowl. But if you do, be careful and cover it up, they are notorious for exploding in the mic.

I'll have to ask ericlee his technique.

I remember when I was in Brownies and microwaves were pretty new, we went to a demo where they did bacon and eggs but it was disgusting.

as in still in the shell? I always cook them out of the shell in the microwave. I scramble them and put them in a bowl and nuke for about 3 mins.

Edit: I put them in a bowl and then scramble them. DOY!!

The funny thing is that I used to have a COUPLE of them. One year, I decided that I hated our family Christmas so much that I was giving everyone "as seen on TV" gifts that I actually purchased with my credit card via TV. I bought two of those and gave them away as part of the gag gift extravaganza. I never heard if they worked. I can't even remember which lucky family members got them. Anyhow, I had them in my closet for about six months.

No, I just want to eat some eggs somehow. I prefer my eggs cooked in a poacher over the stove but that's not going to happen anymore.

How many eggs do you put in the bowl at one time?

Can you cook bacon in the microwave so that it's edible if you don't have a bacon cooker?

(Keep in mind that I only use my microwave for reheating leftovers take out food, heating water, and for heating up morningstar farms fake meat products.)

Bacon is super easy.

Line a plate with 3-4 paper towels.
Place bacon on plate.
Cover with additional paper towel.
Nuke for approx. 1 min/slice.

Easy to clean up, too.

Does it matter if the bacon is frozen?

Pretend that I'm a complete moron when it comes to food prep.

(I do fine with fresh foods, but I have a freezer full of stuff to eat before my refrigerator gets disconnected too. I've learned some valuable lessons about what to buy and what not to buy in future. Pizza doesn't microwave no matter what they say on the box.)

it just really depends on how many eggs you want to eat. I usually cook three and since microwave powers vary, it takes about 3-4 minutes for cooking. Just keep an eye on them and if they're not cooked thouroughly, take them out and give them a stir and put them back in. You may want to spice them up with salt and pepper or whatever your preference is because they're really bland .

Bacon can be cooked in the micro too but I've never tried it. Somebody has mentioned it in the link and it sounds like a good idea.

I don't think I've ever actually used the stove myself. It's easy as crap, just give em a couple minutes or so and put paper towels on either side of the bacon to soak up grease/save your microwave.

I wish I had some salsa or even catsup. I have some really good salt though. I also have about 18 eggs so I can try this more than once.

I find the microwave intimidating. The idea of stirring eggs and figuring out when they're done sounds horrifying but I'm going to try and cook some breakfast for dinner. This is making me flash back to that Brownie demo of the first Amana microwave though.

I also have a whole pound of frozen bacon and a roll of paper towels.

For utimate success: thaw the bacon first.

It turns out that the bacon was suspect. I couldn't remember buying it and it's not like me to freeze it, so I threw it away. I will try again later with fresh bacon.

We used to have a microwave egg poacher. It was just this plastic thingie with two 'cups', and you put a tablespoon of water in each cup, and then an egg, then micro'ed it on High for about 2 minutes. As I recall, the most important thing to remember was to use a tothpick or tip of a kinfe to pierce the yolk, or it could explode, but it wouldn't if you'd pierced that membrane.

I don't have an electric kettle. I'm an American. :p I do have an electric steamer, which is pretty much the same thing. I have thought about trying to poach or boil eggs in it. I can't imagine slitting the yolks which poaching eggs because the reason I like poached eggs is because of the runny pockets of yolk.

I was able to make scrambled eggs in the microwave on the second try. They were fine.

Two weeks from now, I'll be living on take out and cup of soups.

Every now and then I fancy some scrambled eggs on toast

I crack 2 eggs into the jug thing

add a finger size lob of margerine

add a bit of milk

get a fork and wisk

pop on top heat in micowave for 4 minutes

pop toast in toaster on 4

go have a smoke

ping

pop

add HP sauce and salt

I am better than Gordon Ramsey at making scrambled eggs on toast by miles

I just love condiments, but I have never had HP sauce.

I had wondered about whether I should put a little milk in with the eggs when they're cooking. I usually put a little milk in when I make them scrambled in a pan. I'll do it next time.

You can microwave bacon, too.

My mamaw gave me this thing with ridges on it that the grease from the bacon would drip into so it wouldn't be as fattening. The bacon was pretty god, and I didn't get hit in the eye with hot oil.

When i was about 12 i walked into the kitchen and my mother was cooking an egg in the microwave. (still in its shell).

Anyhoo she takes it out, and i lean over her shoulder looking at the egg, (im alot taller than her) and i remember saying 'arent eggs meant to explode in the microwave?' she says 'nah' and touches the egg with her hand, and just as she touches the egg it goes BOOOOOOM!!! an almightly explosion, and fucking boiling hot egg stuff explodes in our faces, and all over the kitchen.

Egg got into places i had no idea existed. i got 2nd degree burns to my face and neck, (my mother also). we had a pretty big kitchen, and egg was splattered on the ceiling on the other side of the kitchen. we both screamed in pain for about 30 seconds, then into fits of laughter as, well, it was pretty funny.

The kitchen stunk of egg for weeks.

Oh, my goodness! That reminds me of the rumors of pressure cooker accidents I heard in my childhood!

Update on my kitchen: Turns out that I have an electric fry pan. :o My sister reminded me that when my mom moved, I kept the fry pan because even though I hate the idea of them, my mom used it all the time and it was mom's favorite cooking apparatus it so I couldn't throw it away. Turns out that it even has a little steamer rack so I just had poached eggs for lunch and I'm leaving my house happy for the afternoon.

What are the chances there have been two threads (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=53560&highlight=egg) about this?

Anyways, Eggwave = awesome.

I just break egg (whites) into a ceramic coffee mug, cover it, nuke it on medium-high for five and a half minutes. They come out perfectly.

Now and again, I'll leave a yolk in there, so it's kind of like having a huge hardboiled egg -- just mug-shaped.

I just made an awesome ghetto esque concoction. I had some tuna so, I mixed it with 3 eggs, stirred and nuked it for 5 minutes. Put some soy sauce in it when finished.

It may be bum chow but I liked it.
