"If you got on a plane with muslims, would you be uncomfortable?"
And then
"I was on the subway once going to Partick and there was a muslim who kept clicking a pen. I had to get off 3 stops early."
So i says
"You know, i'm half irish, and my name is Tim, and you don't associate me with the IRA."
He actually came right out and said he believes all muslims to be terrorists. He'd have all immigration into this country stopped on that very premise. Fair enough, i'm all for the safety of my country but my god, i don't think i've ever met such a fucking nutcase.

I've become discriminatory by making sure I'm extra-pleasant to middle-Eastern looking people.
I actually find in work that "middle-eastern looking people" are far more patient and overall politer and friendlier than the average local wildlife.

a Palastinian guy that works at our office just stopped by my desk and started telling me about CNN being the "Jewish" media. Then he tells me to check some passage in the bible and look at what Jesus said about the Jews and all this stuff. I thought he was never going to quit. It's uncomfortable to be an American.

I don't know about anywhere else but here in Chicago middle easterners are pretty gotdamned racist. Damn near every single time I walk into a 7-11 or a liquor store I get some kind of shitty service or bullshit attitude or some fucker following me around the store from ailse to aisle. I've even been told to 'go back to my own country'. Can you believe that shit? This coming from an immigrant who is living and working and enjoying freedom in the very same city that I was fucking born in! And he's telling me to 'go back to my own country? I swear I wanted to beat the living shit out of that fucker.:mad:
I will admit that when I was in Germany, flying to London on 9/12/2001, I looked at every dark skinned person on my plane with major scrutiny... I stared at them, waiting to catch them making eye contact with others as they sat in different sections of the plane, I waited for them to get up and use the bathroom, my heart raced if any of them even moved... considering many of the terrorists were found throughout Germany and the rest of Europe, (some may have even been on my plane that day), I didn't feel bad about it at all. I was profiling and had every right to...
To this day, I would endure strip and body cavity searches myself if it would guarantee a safe flight...

it's tough being on the other end of this stick. I get screened every single time I go through airport security. One time, I was travelling with my kids (just me and the kids) and they still did the screening.
I know it's for the good of the country and safety and all that, but it sucks to be part of the ethnic group that's constantly given the second look on the plane. and I'm not even muslim, or 100% arabic.
The other day my friend, who's black, was stopped at a bridge at the train station by a woman who declared "NO MUSLEMS ALOUD ON THE TRAIN BECAUSE YOU HAVE A BOMB". He says she seemd drunk or retarded.

I only get off at hillhead when i'm going to university or going drinking. Essentially they're the same thing. They found a body under the bridge at kelvinbridge last week too! Argh!
Anyway, Hardnox, the pakistanis here do that too, in their UK equivalents of 7-11s. I noticed it at first but considering the sort of areas their shops are in i don't entirely blame them. Telling you to go back to your own country is suprising though. I've met some genuinely horrible immigrants working in retail but after a while you begin to realise that in this day in age, everyone is suspicious of everyone, and rudeness has little to do with skin colour. Not that you hadn't realised that, obviously. :D

Its cause you fit the 'profile'. Like we do when we travel. Either stop going to the store...or get used to it. Thats what I do when traveling. I have just accepted it.
And I know plenty of "middle easterners" living in Chicago that aren't racist at all. Stop generalizing. Thats just like saying all black people steal at 7-11 or liquor stores.

Oh, I know it has little to do with skin color (in my case) as I am very, very, I mean extremely light skinned. If you didn't already know I was black/white then you would think I was Puerto Rican, as everyone else does including Hispanics. But I have a friend who is extremely dark skinned. His grandmother is from Nigeria. Years ago, when we were running around doing bullshit, we would walk into stores (didn't matter which one, any one) one at a time. While the entire staff was creeping behind shelves and peeking around corners watching Rob, I was running around the store stealing everything I could lift. And this wasn't just once or twice. We did this hundreds of times over the years. So it was definitely his skin color.
Back to the thing with the Middle Easterners.........I think they adopt a racist attitude when they get here like they adopt alot of other things when they come to America. That is what they are taught when they get off the plane. That is what they see all around them. Now, granted, I'm sure some of them come here with a racist attitude already but I don't know of any other country in the world where the word 'nigger' is used except here. I have heard Middle Easterners (immigrants) use that word freely many, many times. Where did they get that one?
It came with their citiczenship papers.
