I don't mean to cramp to many people's style but the old site rocked. This one looks like the Beastie Boys are hosted by PBS and the designers went after a "They might be giants" look.
I used to send people to the sight that had never heard of the beastie boys (or that had but had only heard 1 song or seen one video before)... now there's no reason to try turning new people on to it - it's a headache-run-around of this site> that site> log-in> give your email out once more> hope you can find another place to write down your details on that scrap of paper sitting beside the lavalamp> bs.
The old site ruled. It looked good. It didn't have a bunch of macropediaflack flashing *I'm overcompensating jargon* that really smells of an 80's hollywood producer saying to the editing dept: "Kids like action!!! action, action, action! And erratic sounds. Cut the transition time between scenes... and increase the number of scenes!!!11!!1... oh, and get me some donuts!".
People who were there when the beasties were on top KNOW. People today need to know too. Sending someone to a sight designed to keep them confused in the process is lame. I've bought and others have bought (yes, actually gotten their fat butts off of their lazyboyz and went down to the record store and BOUGHT - as in paid MONEY for) Beastie Boys stuff because of the old site. I just don't forsee that happening with this new sites features, layout and options. Besides, who the %*^ was satisfied enough with the low rate 'sample quality' vids that were here before? If it was some bs *paranoia* thing about "we gotta make'm dig deeper" or "we're just give'n it all away, oh noes"... then somebody needs smacked and then fired. The old site worked good, looked right, was functional, helped spread the beastie boys to new people and and and %*$^ I've run out of rant (!)
