Just wanted to show my balcony ( so you can see some of my lanterns as well...).
My flowers are all latebloomers cause I couldn't re-pot my sowings in time (busy work schedule in the spring), but now I'm glad I didn't go and buy stuff...

Tobacco 'Perfume Deep Purple' (with fuchsia Flying Cloud in the back)

I'm so gonna save some seeds for next summer...

beautiful! you know how i love the fuchsia. mine is about the only plant on my patio that's survived this heat wave. only that, my palm, the impatiens, and a few of the lobellia are still alive...the petunias and phlox are kaput. :(

I just love phlox! In any form! I sowed some summerphlox last year and due to unfortunate circumstances most of my sowings died (leave the flat for the neighbour to look after for a couple of days and all the plants are dead....) and guess I'd thrown all the soil by the bikestand cause there was loads of summerphlox blooming this year! :D

Funny thing, about that orange 70's style lantern: I got it from a friend a couple of years ago. Before she gave it to me she asked if I liked orange colour. I said NO! That's the most horrible colour, except when in little splashes with blue or purple to highten their shades, and then she gives me that lantern... Didn't I feel stupid... :o When my aunt saw it she said straight away: You didn't buy that, that isn't you!....

This is what it looks like when the dark comes...

That squiggly thing (from IKEA) behind me should'a been covered with sweetpeas, but it's too dark a corner for them to grow... I've tried so many years, I really have to plant them somewhere where they can get more sunlight..

Your space is so inviting and gorgeous. I would spend time out there just sitting, day or night! Sometimes, I think patio gardens are more interesting than walk-through ones because you have to be more thoughtful and selective about how you go about planning/caring for it so that it doesn't overrun the space. Yours is so perfect. I love the fairy lights so much.

those dragon flies are corny!Do you think so? I loved them--I've never seen those before and in the small quantity--are there just three of them?--I thought it was just the right effect. I loved them. I wouldn't love them if there were more than, say, 3-6 of them.

To me, tacky is clothes-wearing geese, windsocks--especially multiple ones per yard, giant wooden windmills, & animatronic deer that are plopped in yards that are miles and miles from any kind of wildlife that doesn't run on electricity.

My morning glory 'Star of Yelta' has finally started to bloom!!!

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/5396/yeltahu5.jpgI want that. When you're done with it, if you get even the slightest bit tired of looking at it, maybe you could ship it stateside. :)

I know people here who pull morning glories out by the handful because they think they're pesty/kudzu-like (which they're not).

That is such a gorgeous photo and I love this thread!

I adopted a plant from our grocery store (!) when they were pitching it because it was on death's door. I had and have no idea what type of plant it is--it is some sort of tropical something or other judging by the shine to its leaves. But I potted it and put it in full sun and just as I was leaving town for my son's graduation, it sprouted buds and the day he came home, there were three yellow trumpet-like flowers on the vine. Yellow, welcoming flowers and they are so pretty. I love that thing. I'll winter it over in my storm cellar and maybe it'll visit me again next summer.

but a) how long will lilies approximately bloom?
and b) do you have a clue what those two plants in the second picture are supposed to be?

my mum bought two bags of lilie tuberous roots

in the first pot she got in pink lilies roots and the second pot white lilies

instead of pink lilies those weird plants came out
and instead of white lilies the pink ones showed up

a) Depends a lot on the weather (sun, warmth)
b) they look like lilies to me, there's hundreds of different kinds.... maybe madonna lilies... so maybe someone's switched the pots...

http://susanalbert.blogspot.com/pix/madonna%200504.jpg

but keep a look out for lilybeetles, they're the worst enemy! They can eat the leaves full of holes and all the buds in a jif! And the only way to get rid of them is to crush them to death! Also look for black smudge that looks like poo, that's their larvae.

Wow! That place looks gorgeous!
You can just feel the heat in there! I love tropical greenhouses!
And they've got a fish-tail palm there (in the bananaleaf picture)! When we had the course for indoor plants (mainly for official places and hotels and airports and places like that) they had that palm there and when they got it the first time and were offering it to the customers it didn't have a Swedish name yet so they called it Already Broken (because of the leaves...) :p

New Millenium is still in the bud, but looks like it's gonna be something between Black Prince and Royal Velvet. Quasar didn't overlive the winter (even tho I had it in the same greenroom as Tom Vek) :(

Another "I'm not gonna buy anything this time..." purchase... It's actually much darkier irl!
