That link says it's overloaded. :(
The clip they had posted at Amazon is from a song that's not on the album, which is interesting. It was... it was okay; might take some getting used to.
I'm looking forward to the album and a little wary -- Modern Times is a kind of obvious title for Bob, like "Political World." Hopefully it's better than that.

That should be cool!
The only listening party I went to was for XTC's Oranges and Lemons at Ear-X-Tacy in Louisville. Andy Patridge called in to see how it was going, which I thought was kind of funny/cool.

I saw him live last night and he was absolutely terrible. We left 50 mins. into his set b/c it was so bad. The only good part about the show was that Eric Clapton sat in on guitar. I'm sure his album will be good but he isn't as great live as he was in his younger days.

Dylan's live shows are notoriously uneven. That's part of why I've never paid to see him live -- you just really don't know what you're gonna get.

he is currently on his minor league baseball stadium tour...
its the third summer in a row he has toured small ballparks in small American towns...
more tour dates will be announced...
i saw him last year with Wille Nelson and the year before with Merle Haggard... his voice was solid and his harmonica was masterful....

Huh.
The shortest song on the album is 4:55. I wonder if he's feeling poetic, or if there's jamming involved...?
The bonus song on the Amazon site -- with the video -- had a weird, almost Lou Reed-ish sort of opening and loose feel. I wonder if that's the tone?
1 Thunder on the Mountain 5:55
2 Spirit on the Water 7:42
3 Rollin' and Tumblin' 6:01
4 When the Deal Goes Down 5:04
5 Someday Baby 4:55
6 Workingman's Blues #2 6:07
7 Beyond the Horizon 5:36
8 Nettie Moore 6:52
9 The Levee's Gonna Break 5:43
10 Ain't Talkin' 8:48

Oh, hell. Who knows? There are four videos that have been shot for the album (presumably the outtake I saw plus three from the record).

that video on amazon is from Time Out of Mind- Cold Irons Bound...
that seems to be his style now, though, even his own classics he plays in that straight blues style with the same band behind him on his albums and on his tour...
can anyone else provide a link to the new material?

Ah -- Time Out of Mind is one I haven't heard.
I don't see any samples anywhere, and the record company is pushing the "This is part of the trilogy!!!!" thing pretty hard.
I smell a rat.

Time Out of Mind -> Love and Theft -> Modern Times
"The poet laureate of rock 'n' roll. The voice of the promise of the '60s
counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock, who donned makeup in the '70s and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse, who emerged to find Jesus,' who was written off as a has-been by the end of the '80s, and who suddenly shifted gears and released some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the late '90s.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Columbia recording artist Bob Dylan"

I love "Time Out of Mind". The thing about that album is I actually was driving 80 miles a day to work so I could really digest the album in it's whole format. Listening to Bob Dylan from any era takes an investment of time, he's not a hitmaker, he's a songwritng minstrel.
You have to give it up for that line in Thunder on the Mountain,
I've sucked the milk out of a thousand cows.......:D

I was willing to give him another chance, but I'm mad at Bob again. He's coming to some stupid places in the sticks but he's not coming to Minneapolis! WTF?
I'll probably buy the CD though. :o
