I thought you also might like to know that we have Jay's here in Michigan as well. I'm totally down for sending you some, but I think they might get crunched in transit.

I thought you were somewhere near Chicago. Where are you?

Fuck the chips. We got Italian beef. You haven't lived life yet until you have tasted that.
Dipped Cheesy Beef with jalapenos is my absolute favorite!! I went to New York back in 2000 and I've always heard that New York has everything. Whatever the fuck you could possibly want under the sun, you can get it in New York.

Wrong. You can't get a fucking Italian beef. Granted I was only there for four days, but damn! I looked high and low and couldn't find one for shit.

Chicago is home of the deep dish or 'stuffed' pizza. Imagine pizza that is about as thick as a slice of cheescake with cheese, mushrooms, olive, jalapenos, pepperoni, sausage and whatever the fuck else you could possibly want on a pizza.

That's what makes it so special.

I hate deep dish, it's way too sloppy and you're full after one slice. Not to mention you're chewing for at least 5 minutes on every bite.

DDD I'll send you some Jays.

We have Philly cheesestakes here in Chicago and they're alright but it's not the same as eating a Philly cheesestake from Philly. I've heard those things are so damn good you would hurt somebody to get one.

I was just in Chicago. I loved your town. I was there for the kickoff of Taste of Chicago. Lots of food = lots of fun. So much goodness in that crowded, little strip. :D

Yeah, Philly cheesesteaks is all that and then some. 'Whiz with' is the way to go... but I won't front... I'm a Provolone buff. You can find a solid steak shop pretty much anywhere in and around the city. So don't sweat that 'Gino's/Pat's or bust' bullshit. Although that is fun on the after hours run. (y)

I don't eat crazy amounts of red meat... So I probably wouldn't hurt someone for a steak. But other people would. It's not necessarily because they're hungry either... they're just Philaians. And that's good enough like the goonies. :o

Isn't the Taste some wild ass shit? It's fun but I have to admit I haven't been to it in about six or seven years. I can't stand the fucking crowds. The heat combined with my attitude and temper almost guarantees that I will be in a fight. I only go now to see the fourth of July fireworks (which is actually on the third) during the Taste every year.

People who are from Chicago don't go to the Taste. It's for tourists and suburbinites.

This town has my <3 though, glad you liked it!

PS
you want a cheesesteak? Go to Philly's Best on Belmont / Clark.

It was fun. Those ribs was all that. And the pizza. It was all over after that. And yeah, that heat was brutal.

Well come on now... My flight got bumped while I was on my way to Maui last month and I got put up at the Hyatt for the night in Chi-town. It was unexpected. So I told a Hyatt employee that I wanted a taste of Chicago. She then suggested that I do just that: Go to the taste of Chicago. I peeped Millenium park and did the touristy thing.

But my buddy lives there. So we linked up with him that evening and he took us around to the bars at night. So there.. I broke the touristy mold in less than 24 hours.
