okay not really. But as it turns out, I have an astigmatism in my right eye. Then there is something about the lense in each eye. Something about the left eye is far forward and the right is far back. And I rely on my left eye to focus on things a lot due to my right eye being retarded.

Good times! I don't have to wear glasses 24/7 but anytime I'm on a computer, at the movies, driving at night, in class (to see the board), drawing, etc.

So basically, 24/7. Oh, and glasses are expensive as fuck. For my exam and glasses and all that cost me $200 bucks!

Are glasses annoying? :/

i hate to perv up a thread about astigmatism (and so soon!), but i think glasses are kinda sexy on girls. maybe i have a nerd fetish.

i've always had good eyesight, i've never needed glasses or anything, but i think it's starting to go. my dad said he started to need glasses when he was about my age, so i'm wondering. i notice that my right eye is sometimes not as good as my left eye. not all the time, but sometimes. not enough to make me sure that there's something wrong with it, i always think that maybe there's just something in my eyelash or something, it's just very vaguely fuzzy. i think if it goes bad, i'll just get an eyepatch, fuck glasses. or maybe a monocle. i mean, i only need to fix the one eye, right? so logically, a monocle is the right thing to do, and it should only cost half as much.

you should get a monocle. it's a great idea, whenever something surprises you, you can just pop it out.

I remember playing SCIII and making my own character, ya know. Anyway when I saw that wearing a monocle was an option I exclaimed "I WISH I COULD WEAR A MONOCLE!"

All my dreams are coming true.

Oh, Bob.

Another thing about monocles is that people automatically assume you have superiority. High five. (y)

also with a monocle I can wear gloves and remove one, slap someone with it, and challenge them to a duel and it wouldn't be weird AT ALL!

And a great big bag with a $ sign on it. You can fill it with pennies though. They'll never know.

you have to start smoking cigars, of course. and you have to be fat. wear a pillow if you have to.

wait, you aren't a man, are you? i dunno how monocle ettiqute works for women. are women allowed to wear monocles?

Glasses aren't bad. I had to wear them for a few years until my vision got better.

Eyeglasses are one of those things that I wan't afraid to spend money on, kind of like a quality mattress, but for maybe different reasons.

Like: a bad mattress can screw up your sleep and screw up your back. Your psyche and your vertebrae are NOT things to be taken lightly.

With eyeglasses, there's a comfort aspect and a vanity aspect: one, they have to sit on your nose and ears all the day long -- you better have to think of that as little as possible (do they pinch, are they comfortable, do they slip, etc.).

Part two is that eyeglasses basically become part of your face, visually, so unless you want to buy multiple styles of glasses, you'd better find something complimentary (and probably as unobtrusive as possible).

Good luck with it!

dropping $200 is kind of a punch in the gut but all these reasons are exactly why I made sure to get good quality glasses/frames. That and the whole I want to do art thing. Good vision is important/imperative.

I like doing the and/or slash things a lot.

Do you have any sort of health insurance that covers optomoetry? 'cause you might want to consider seeing if you can purchase insurance for lost/broken glasses. Especially depending on what kind of art you do -- what the mediums are, whether they're likely to be a hazard to your eyewear.

I think it's the same for wimmins. I mean, when I wanted to be a pimp for Halloween, I went the traditional boy route and let people deal with the fact that I had long hair and boobs. That's their deal, not mine.

Same with becoming the monopoly man.

I've got 20/20, my brother has something like 40/20. He can see 40 feet where normal people can only see 20. I have no idea why, but he can read road signs that are dots in the distance. I can read them further than most people, but my brother's eyes are superhuman.

Glasses are fun stuff. Wear them with pride.

I'm hardly ever without glasses. The only time they give me trouble is when it's humid outside and the motherfucks fog up. Other than that, Latina women look SPICY in spectacles.

I stole Brett's glasses when I was there last. Partially because I thought they looked good on me, partially because it was funny seeing him struggle to watch Colbert. LOLS.

I have terrible vision and an astigmatism in my right eye. I have to wear special contacts and they are kinda expensive.

I wear glasses on occasion, but they broke because I'm just that fucking punk rock.

I agree with Bob, I swoon over girls in glasses, always have. They have to be nice glasses though.

i've had glasses since second grade. the only thing that annoys me about them is not being able to see the clock in the morning without them and when they get greasy and dirty. then you go to wipe them with something and it doesn't clean them but just smears the grease and dirt around.

just get a pair of small wireframes. glasses are one of those accesories that always looks attractive if you get a pair that matches you well.

so you're near sided? Can't see far??

That's pretty much me....I need my glasses to drive, at the movies, watching TV, I needed them to "see the board" in school.

Glasses aren't annoying, I just tend to forget them all the time, so I'm always squinting.

your avatar is quite appropriate then... ;)

the most annoying thing, i find, is the cost and yes, having to remember to take them out with you, find them round the house etc. but i guess you get used to it.

i just treated myself to a fantastic pair of gucci sunglasses that i will now get my prescription put into. i guess it's a good excuse to buy a quality pair of sunnies :)

Knuckles was psychic!

I am really forgetful and lose things a lot. But considering how expensive they are maybe I'll be careful with them. Guess I'll find out!
