Took them long enough. I always thought that the parents had something to do with it until I learned recently that they had both passed a lie-detector test.

sick fuck was in thailand preying on underage girls where it is an industry...

Authorities said Karr was being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges. CBS reported he will be brought back to the United States this weekend.

The families attorney described the crime and ensuing investigation an American Tragedy, an accurate description if I've ever heard one.

I'm shocked, too. 10 freakin' years. That guy could have just never come forward, and he'd never have been caught, and everyone would still think the parents did it.

Damn.

i just hope that this will teach the public not to condemn people just because the media has decided that they're guilty. fuckin everyone thought the parents did it, just because of the coverage but oh shit no they didn't TV was wrong oh my god

nobody will learn anything of course, but i can still hope.

1). The dudes a loon, and he didnt do it.

2). Who really gives a shit? It was 10 years ago and in reality the world lost a girl who would have grown up to be like Paris Hilton. What a tragic turn of events. If she hadnt been the daughter of rich people, no one would know her name or even care 10 years later.

Did anyone see that SNL with Christopher Walken? Where he was on a harmless kids prank show called Pranksters? And he showed a video of his own prank, where he met some guy out in the parkinglot and said his shoe was untied and then proceeded to bludgeon him to death with a bat? And then everyone in the studio was like  "Why did you DO THAT?" And he just replied "He was being a Stiffy McStifferson so I Prankstered him to death!"?

Yeah, I have ADD.

Yeah, people are now thinking that it's a fake confession. I don't really know why they'd think that, I should read more.

And we were talking about white suburban girls in the news having so much national attention and how fucked up it is. Like, if a black girl from SE DC got kidnapped and murdered, that's normal. But if a white girl in Manhattan gets kidnapped and murdered, that's national news. It's just the way for the media to scare you with another "IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!" stories. (n)

Agreed.

The prisons in the U.S. are probably much nicer than the prisons in Thailand.

hit that motherfucker with court and extradition costs. surely, a false confession is a crime. what a collosal waste of man hours and media blitz frenzy. not like they need an excuse to fire up a blitz, but still ...

it almost makes me wonder, what was the confession distracting the media outlets from? i feel like something skated by whilst we were preoccupied with this trivial shit.

Did you ever see something and something about it doesn't quite strike you, yet there is no hard science to support why you felt the way you did so you just kept it to yourself? I felt that way when he was being flown into the U.S. and he was wearing a red shirt. That sounds dumb, I know, but it struck me. It was a loud shirt to wear to something like that and it reminded me of that scene in Schindler's List where the little girl was wearing the red coat. In the dull crowd, he stood out more than normal because of that shirt and I just wonder if part of him wasn't thrilled with that type of attention and then that made me wonder about the legitimacy of his claim. It's silly sounding, I know.

Other little things, too, about his demeanor with camera people seemed just a little too composed and a little too practiced and...something...seeming for him to have been legit. It's hard to articulate that--it was mostly just a feeling that he wasn't right--but the red shirt thing stood out to me as being all wrong.

I think in some sick way, he wanted the exposure and publicity. It's easy to say that now, though, and I realize that.

guess what? they are sending him back here to where I live, quaint, quiet, rural sonoma county where he will faces charges for posession of Child Pornography dating back to 2001. yippie! (he lived here back then. we get all the good pervs. yup.)

My sister works at the jail. she escorts inmates to and from the court room. I bet she'll get to escort Karr too. I hope she kicks him in the shin.

I'm sure someone will set up a few opertunities for him to meet and greet the fellow inmates, or be tempted to escape so they can shoot him in the back.
