but apparently not like some do.
So, I'm talking with a friend and his girlfriend the other night. Both of them are pretty hard core Catholics. I'm a Catholic, but only on paper, really. We got on the subject of relationships and I mentioned how yeah, I'd like to meet a nice girl etc. Well, they repeatedly tell me about how God will play a role in this. Mostly to the effect of "If you live right, be positive, God will give you the things you want." Now, I'm all for being positive but I disagree with the rest.
I guess I see God as more as a governing force in the universe; an energy binding everything, not some guy who is going to reward me for "being good" with all the crazy shit I desire. I like to think that I earned everything I have. If I meet a nice girl it's because I'm charming, funny and attractive. Not because I go to church every Sunday (which I don't) or am nice to old people.
