Bush Urges Need for Troops to Stay in Iraq. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/21/AR2006082100209.html)

He said U.S. military commanders in Iraq believed the current U.S. strategy "will work."

We have a strategy? Did anyone else know of this? I sure didn't. Can anyone fill me in on WHAT the strategy is?

Whatever it is, we are staying the course and committed to it. He says that a lot. He's not going to give up on his strategy.

look at the PNAC (http://www.newamericancentury.org/) (project for a new american century, authored in 1997 and literally carried out verbatim since 9-11. now its a huge website, and a lot of information, but if you searched around in there, you would find some very interesting things:
Established in the spring of 1997, the Project for the New American Century is a nonprofit,
educational organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership.
The Project is an initiative of the New Citizenship Project. William Kristol is chairman
of the Project, and Robert Kagan, Devon Gaffney Cross, Bruce P. Jackson and John R.
Bolton serve as directors. Gary Schmitt is executive director of the Project.
“As the 20th century draws to a close, the United States stands as the
world’s most preeminent power. Having led the West to victory in
the Cold War, America faces an opportunity and a challenge: Does
the United States have the vision to build upon the achievement of
past decades? Does the United States have the resolve to shape a
new century favorable to American principles and interests?
“[What we require is] a military that is strong and ready to meet
both present and future challenges; a foreign policy that boldly and
purposefully promotes American principles abroad; and national
leadership that accepts the United States’ global responsibilities.
“Of course, the United States must be prudent in how it exercises its
power. But we cannot safely avoid the responsibilities of global
leadership of the costs that are associated with its exercise. America
has a vital role in maintaining peace and security in Europe, Asia,
and the Middle East. If we shirk our responsibilities, we invite
challenges to our fundamental interests. The history of the 20th
century should have taught us that it is important to shape
circumstances before crises emerge, and to meet threats before they
become dire. The history of the past century should have taught us
to embrace the cause of American leadership.”
– From the Project’s founding Statement of Principles

and this:
ESTABLISH FOUR CORE MISSIONS for U.S. military forces:
• defend the American homeland;
• fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theater wars;
• perform the “constabulary” duties associated with shaping the security environment in
critical regions;
• transform U.S. forces to exploit the “revolution in military affairs;”
To carry out these core missions, we need to provide sufficient force and budgetary
allocations. In particular, the United States must:
MAINTAIN NUCLEAR STRATEGIC SUPERIORITY, basing the U.S. nuclear deterrent upon a
global, nuclear net assessment that weighs the full range of current and emerging threats,
not merely the U.S.-Russia balance.
RESTORE THE PERSONNEL STRENGTH of today’s force to roughly the levels anticipated in
the “Base Force” outlined by the Bush Administration, an increase in active-duty strength
from 1.4 million to 1.6 million.
REPOSITION U.S. FORCES to respond to 21st century strategic realities by shifting
permanently-based forces to Southeast Europe and Southeast Asia, and by changing naval
deployment patterns to reflect growing U.S. strategic concerns in East Asia.

notice the last points...permanent military bases in southeast europe and moving towards southeast asia.

and this:
On 23 March 2004 it was reported that "U.S. engineers are focusing on constructing 14 "enduring bases," long-term encampments for the thousands of American troops expected to serve in Iraq for at least two years.... The number of U.S. military personnel in Iraq, between 105,000 and 110,000, is expected to remain unchanged through 2006.. the US plans to operate from former Iraqi bases in Baghdad, Mosul, Taji, Balad, Kirkuk and in areas near Nasiriyah, near Tikrit, near Fallujah and between Irbil and Kirkuk... enhance airfields in Baghdad and Mosul..."

this is not meant to be liberation, freedom fighting, war on terror or any of that political jargon. bush was literally put into office to carry out the terms of the project for a new american century, to ensure that the us remains one step above the rest of the world and maintains its "global superiority" in some rapidly evolving times (global warming and associated turmoil, and the rise of china as a superpower).

and it is a crime that 9-11 was allowed to happen and that over 200,000 innocent iraqis have been killed. a crime that we have plunged iraq into a civil war where last month 1600 people were killed in baghdad alone. a crime that afghanistan has once again been overrun by international forces (first by the english, then the russians and now the us), and that israel is allowed to continue its bullshit by our means. the lies are criminal and they are the very definition of treason (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/treason).
