Went to a party in a friend's field at the weekend (drinking and camping), and a friend of ours was there with his new Nissan Pathfinder. He decided to take it round the field in RWD and do some donuts, j-turns and handbrake turns etc. Three of us joined him in the truck, and all was fun until he did this...

Sad to say but it was actually really good fun. I just felt sorry that he caused about five grand's worth of damage for 10 minutes of fun. But he can afford it(y)

lol...
SUVs never were off-road vehicles.
it's a misleading marketing campaign.
i'm looking at you, Hummer.

Seriously, this thing was pretty incredible off road. But the guy had it set to rear wheel drive only, turned off the traction control, and was doing high speed handbrake turns on dry uneven ground. It was an inevitable accident really (but still quite funny).
And I agree, Hummers are shite.

I didn't take the photos, and I'm the one furthest from camera pushing the car back onto its wheels.
And my friend didn't buy the car, it belongs to the company he works for.

...sounds like it was tired.

More than just tired, it was totally fucked. He'd had it bouncing off the rev limited for 10 minutes non-stop, and was donuting and handbraking so hard that the anti roll bars broke, leaving the wheels pointing outwards at the top.
He still managed to drive it the 13 miles back to his house with his 3 year old daughter and due-to-give-birth-in-three-days wife (who was extremely pissed off with him).

Not sure, he's off work for 2 weeks as his wife was due to give birth yesterday. He was very calm about hte whole thing, he said he'd just take the car to a garage and get it fixed.
It probably helps that his company is one of the world's biggest car manufacturers, and they don't seem too bothered by the way he treats his cars. I've heard that out of the last six cars he's had through work (and they give him a new one every six months), only one was returned to them fully intact.

Nissan Pathfinder were never ment to hit the dirt, thier ment to be driven by girls.
with all my red neck friend who seem to love to get up on lawns have never flipped anything .... get a ford or chevy truck

Maybe your friends don't push their cars to the limits like my friend did...
The choice of 4X4s in the UK isn't great, and we don't get Ford or Chevy trucks here (not that I would buy one if they were available).
If I wanted to get a 4X4 there would only be two choices - Land Rover or Toyota Hilux.

Don't want to piss on your bonfire or anything, but that car has the same size engine as most regular diesel cars (2.5 litre), and Nissan / Renault fit catalytic converters to their diesels to make them the least polluting diesel engines available.
I agree with what you're saying about people driving 4X4s in towns and cities. It's just fucking stupid.

This sums up my attitude to people who drive cars like this in general.
