I liked TTFB, but I hope the Beasties revisit some of what they are renowned for, albums like CYH and HN, even PB and IC. A total mix of hip hop, punk, slower tunes and instuments. Thats what makes them stand out from the rest. It shows talent and creativity. I dug out HN and started listening to it today as I haven't in awhile and I remember my excitement listening to this in 98 and how much I still enjoy it today, mainly because of its diversity and excellent beats and sounds.
Anywho, Ad-rock, MCA, and Mike D, if by chance you read this, I hope you break out some instuments on your new album because that is one aspect where you guys really shine.
And when I saw their concert in Austin in Oct 04, and they played a couple of tunes with the instruments, I thought this is f__kin excellent! As you can tell, I like their instrument playin haha (y)

Well...try to look at what directions they went through
LTI = rock fused hip hop fused punk
PB = What in God's name is this?
CYH = The Ultimate Experment IMO
IC = New York Underground scene (Both the jazz and punk era's and a bit similer to CYH)
HN = The '50s and early '60s
TT5B = Old Skhool
Now if you take this into account, it is probably most likely that they will either try to collab with some of their previous sounds or attempt to create ANOTHER new direction which either I honestly don't mind as I am pretty sure (As long the influences of the mass media don't peer pressure them)that they won't be majorally disappointing.

still waiting for a plausible source saying that they're actually getting somewhere on their new album. it sounds just like they're tossing different samples around, creating background beats etc. unless i've missed something (which i hope i have haha)

This is what they should do with the new album
a 4 cd box
EVERY CD CONTAINS 10 SONGS
CD1 HIP HOP
CD2 INSTRUMENTALS
CD3 HARDCORE / ROCK
CD4 UNRELEASED SONGS FROM "THE VAULT" (that thing that supposed to be openend a long time ago on this website)
I really missed the instrumentals and hardcore/rock on tt5b, the variety they had on cd's like cyh, ill com and hn was the thing that made them so special.
so plaease yauch, make i happen (y)

You summed up my feelings very well! the variety on past albums is what made them special.
Either way, its like being a kid waiting for Christmas, but you have no idea when Santa will come in the next year or so :(

I hope they decide to do what would make them the most money and make a Gangsta Rap album, including appearances from 50 Cent, G Unit, Lil John, The Game, and the remaining members of the Outlawz.

The albums have been getting progressively worse since Check Your Head so I can imagine how much a new album would suck.

Pharell is a very talented producer and Eminem is one of the most lyrically gifted motherfuckers to come along ever.
But apart from that yeah, well done with the sarcasm. Really funny.

i really dont agree with that. even though hello nasty might be their most overplayed album (maybe LTI though), its still really really good, like electrify, that song is great, just as instrumentls i love all the layers and diversity of stuff.

I just hope it's good and surprising in some way. Their best stuff (PB, CYH, HN) wasn't what I was expecting.
Hell, they could make beats from all-typing sounds and I wouldn't care, as long as it worked.

I'm not nervous in the least for what's to come of the new album. For the few who haven't recognized the track record yet, an impressive 6 out of 6 (as stated by Dave790 earlier), we're lookin' at a no brainer here, it'll deliver.
Even if by some random reason were to turn out like on the same tip as TT5B, although it wouldn't be the ideal record, it would still be quality. It's hard to judge TT5B when it's next to their other albums, because in the big picture it's a rockin' album, but next to masterpieces like PB, CYH, and HN, to name a few, it doesn't quite do it justice.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, even if the album doesn't live up to previous works, it's still going to be good in general terms of music.

I agree with you for the most part. But...Hello Nasty over Licensed To Ill??? I cant see that at all. LTI is a bonafide 5 star classic immortal hip hop album.

I'd take HN over LTI any any anyday. Are you kidding me? HN sounds better, has way more variety, is wittier, the rapping and interplay is way more sophisticated, and not a single clunker on the disc.
