"Check Your Head" has been stuck in my CD player for a hot minute, due to my 3-year-old son's obsession with "So What'cha Want." Every once in a while, he'll let me listen to a few additional tracks. I can't help but critique Mike D. when it comes to "Pass the Mic." It's one of my favorite Beasties songs, but when D repeats the word "commercial," it irks me every time. In my own humble and uninformed opinion, a better lyrical pairing would have been:

everybody's rapping like it's a commercial
acting like life is a big rehearsal.

Anyone feel like changing a Beasties lyric or two?

That was actually what it was supposed to be.

I remember reading/hearing it somewhere that it was supposed to be "rehearsal" or "dress rehearsal"...but Mike goofed the line and they made him leave it in.

I've always thought it rams the point home that way. Emphasis on the commercial. But if it's a goof then that's still a cool story (y)

yeah it would sound better as rehearsal. But i like the way he repeats it. It sounds so real! if i could improve any lyrics i would cahnge this line in 'lookin down a barell of a gun'

Had a small problem wit the the transmission[/I)
[I]had a small fuck up with the transmsiion

Change:

So I'm Supposed To Sit Upon My Couch Just Watching My T.V. yeah
I'm Still Listening To Wax, I'm Not Using The CD

To:
Try to move me to third, like they did to A-Rod
I Still Listen To Wax, I'm Not Using The iPod

...I think they explain that on the DVD commentary; that's probably where you got it.

In "Do It" MCA rhymes Coney Island with LES Manhattan Island. It happens every now and then where a rapper will either not rhyme or rhyme the same word twice. No biggie really, it happens in poetry too.
