I am stunned that someone got my YBT reference. Props to you.(y)
Yeah, because they were mainly an underground sensation that never quite got the attention that their "controversial" group name should have procured them.

A little-known factoid:

Not a lot of people are aware that EPMD was originally formed by 2 white guys. Then Eric Sermon joined the group as their dancer. Eric then brought Parrish into the group as another dancer. The other two guys didn't like Parrish, so they went and formed their own group. They decided on the name Pete Rock & CL Smooth. But then they discovered that another group already had the rights to that name, so they changed their name to Public Enemy. Then they found out that there was already a group by that name, as well. Frustrated with all the politics of the music industry, one member quit the group and has neither been seen or heard from since. The other went on to find success in the role of Anthony 'Tony' Micelli on the primetime hit tv sitcom, Who's The Boss?, eventually becoming the highest paid actor of all time.
