View Full Version : I've Never Had A Heaping Hot Cup Of Starbucks Coffee.

'Tis true. I've never even walked into a Starbucks. I've tried those iced coffees you can get at the supermarket, but they weren't super fantastic or anything. Since there are a gazillion people on the planet who worship Starbucks as if they were a real life Starship Enterprise, I figured Juan Valdez himself would leap from the bottle and dance like a leprechaun on a river of milky froth, but that didn't happen.

Am I really missing anything, or is corporate America fucking with me like they did when they convinced me to adopt not one but THREE Cabbage Patch Kids.

Being a single mom at the age of nine wasn't easy you know.

I could buy an entire bag of unground coffee for nine bucks and eat the beans whole. That would HAVE to give me a better coffee buzz than one cup of Starbucks.

i prefer it to some watered down crap that you get at a lot of places

but i think thats because i would rather drink espresso with lots of milk than brown water with a lot of milk

I dunno about that. At Starbucks you get the coffee, and all the sugar and sweetener, and then they put whipped cream and a ton of caramel/chocolate on top of it. Make's me go buck wild every time.

Well, I figured you would have tried Starbucks by now if you like coffee. They're pretty difficult to avoid. It's the only chain store that I visit on vacation.

My friends who like weak diner coffee or their own weak automatic drip coffee never like Starbucks as well as the other chains. My friends who like strong dark coffee and who don't like diner coffee like Starbucks. I like Starbucks because it's consistent and it's open early and open late, but you will find better individual drinks at other coffee shops.

Actually I live in a very small town in NC. The nearest Starbucks is an hour away, and when I visit the city, you'll find me sipping on a beer, a glass of water, or Maggie Moo's Dark Chocolate milkshake. ;)

When I drank coffee last fall/winter, I tried trendy coffee-shop coffee and didn't care for it or the cost of it. Or the lines I had to wait to get it. Or the noun-strings associated with the names of some of those drinks.

I never drank coffee before last fall/winter and got hooked on it when I was in Texas/Louisiana and waking up at 2-4am. I started then with gas-station coffee because that's all that was available and that habit stuck.

The best was the stuff from Sunoco's A+ Mini-Marts--they had long banks of flavored coffee and creamers and that was cool. The nastiest was the stuff that brews at my work--coffee in crusty pots that sit for too long on hot plates; cheap, generic coffee grounds with powdered creamer.

I broke the coffee habit last February because I didn't like that I liked something like that so much. I haven't thought much about coffee since maybe March.

That was another thing. Regardless of where I bought coffee, people around me were buying coffee and I would say that 7 out of 10 of them had a muffin or a donut or a bagel with it. Some of those coffee drinks are probably a quarter of the calories that I eat in a day and then the bagel and muffin on top of that--those people were eating/drinking (in one sitting) probably the equivalent of what I eat in two meals or what I work off each morning at the gym. I'm thinking that there's not much nutrition in those things, so it's all empty stuff going in.

those big china mugs they serve their coffees in cool the drink down way too quickly, so i always ask for a takeaway cup. sorry trees:(

the starbucks in japan had recycling facilities and encouraged you to divide up your rubbish accordingly. it probably all went into the landfill :(

but yeah, i prefer my own coffee, or one of their competitors. sometimes it's enjoyable tho. i'm just a skinny/semi skim latte kinda girl in case anyone really cares.

Try the coffee they call the "Caramel Macchiato", it's damn expensive but tasty as balls. Nice-tasting balls. Back before I used to spend all my money on drink and drugs I used to have those occasionally. (y)

IM a big coffee person and I do like Starbucks. I don't get in everyday, but I enjoy it when I do. My wife, who is not a a coffe person loves their iced lattes and other various espresso drinks.

Corprate America is fucking you due to the price, but I do think they have the best coffee outside greasy spoon diners..

my place of employment, (maaan, that feels good to type) PROUDLY BREWS STARBUCKS COFFEE. they even have the starbucks cups and the little corrugated cardboard sleeves. i usually have 3 cups in an 8 hr period and it's all free!

we also have fresh baked otis spunkmeyer cookies (4 types) available all day. also there's an antique popcorn cart to snack from if you need something salty.

at my old job, i'd spend at least $5-7 a day on coffee and snacks, so this set up is like money in the bank. (just as soon as i get a bank account of course.)

i love their caramal macchiatos. they are very nice. and the skinny vanilla lattes.
also i am a total sucker for, come christmas, their gingerbread lattes. OMG! i have never tasted anything so god-damned delicious. they are divine.

i try, i do try, to support independent coffee houses in my area but sometimes that corporate urge for gingerbread novelty kicks in and i can't help myself!

Starbucks is pretty good retail-chain coffee. The usual blend is about the least of their coffees, though -- it's not a bad idea to ask what the have ready and brewed, because there's a good chance that any options other than the house blend will be tastier.

wow. if i have that much coffee in a day i get all sketchy, like a junkie. it makes my insides feel all raw.

i've become one of those people that simply can't function without a cup or two in the morning. i'm just in this haze of sorts. i'm truly addicted. i tell my boss, "for safety's sake, let me just get this down first"

I hate Starbucks and everything it represents. I've never been into the whole half caf grande latte with extra foam, just a hint of cinnamon and a lemon tweest.

Just give me a regular fucking cup of coffee. And not for $6.

The only time I go into a Starbucks (you guys are gonna laugh) is to get a spoon for my Ben and Jerry's. I'm serious. If you don't have access to a metal spoon then Starbucks has really good strong black plastic spoons that won't snap in half. (Einstein's Bagels has pretty good spoons, too.) That's the only reason I ever go into Starbucks. Other than that, I can't stand the place.

edit-I will admit that I do like those little Frappacinos that come in the glass bottle and the DoubleShot espressos that comes in the tiny ass cans. Those are fucking addictive. But luckily you can get those in a regular store. You don't have to go into a Starbucks for them.

Do you have Caribou Coffee around you? I miss it. They could be found in Ohio and North Carolina, but not here. I liked their Fa La La Lattes...enough to order them out loud and risk saying La La too many times, or slurring it all together and ordering a "Falllaghllatte". You need a small coffee in you beforehand just to place your order.

The closest one is in Charlotte. :(

We have a Coffee House, though, which is an imitation Waffle House. The coffee stinks, but the hash browns and blueberry pancakes are to die for.

The holiday lattes look and sound really stupid, but they're like liquid candy and highly addictive.

That's true.

And I usually avoid the holiday blends as well. Last year's holiday roast was the yummiest, but the year before's tasted like dishwater. I'm hooked on Americanos right now so that avoids the issue.

My most frequently-received gift is a Starbucks gift card. I told my mom that it's like she's buying me a little gift every day and she likes that. :)

We have a Caribou in the building where I work and the people who work there are very nice and often give me an extra shot for free.

Last year at Christmastime? Yeah -- SOMETHING they had was just terrific. I thought it was just a new option, and the woman told me I only had X many weeks more to order it, because it was seasonal. Holy crap. Whatever it was, it was the best coffee I've ever had at a shop, period. (y)

It was the holiday blend. I'm not a huge coffee snob but it was just perfect for a regular brew. I bought several pounds of it right before they took it away. The holiday blend from the year before was undrinkable so I could not have been more surprised.
