Has anyone heard anything about the line up for it yet? coz it's just that we're buying tickets to Tool tomorow morning and they've only said they're playing in sydney and melbourne, yet the tool site's saying 'dont worry there are plans for tool being finallised to play in adelaide perth auckland and queensland too. They're playing on the 24th of jan and BDO in sydney is always on australia day which is 2 days later.
the first line up for bdo wont be out til october
yeah i just dont wanna miss tool, yet i dont wanna be stuck with a ticket to see them in sydney if they're gonna play at gold coast
especially when a ticket to their show in sydney is gonna be more than a BDO ticket
it's a big gamble. it might be a bit difficult to get rid of a $115 ticket up here when the show's in sydney!
so yeah if anyone's got any info please share

i don't think you'll have any trouble reselling a ticket to tool

I reckon theres a 90% chance they will play BDO, at least all the east coast cities.
slayer released their new album this year - high possibility they MIGHT wanna come here to tour it. i'd fucking pay all 115+ to see them.
chili peppers could've but they're touring here soon anyway, right?
dj shadow might come? he just toured AND released an album

theres a big petition to get chilli peppers to come to perth, so i doubt they are headlining the bdo.

who tool or the peppers? i assume you mean rhcp.
i'm definitely not fussed about them.
i heard a rumour the who (roger and pete) are doing the bdo but since i told my dad i'd go with him to see them, i hope they are doing something that isnt the BDO.

i have the lateralus sawblade (the one thats on the lateralus vinyl cover) wrapped around my arm.
i have heard little peeps that gnarls barkley might be at the BDO too. not that i particularly care.
i only managed to get tickets to the melb gig cuz my enterprising mate did some detective work and found an alternate number that went straight thru to an operator.

does anyone know when the first line up is announced?
icy manipulator
10-04-2006, 08:09 AM
so this is the line up they've announced so far
Tool
Muse
Violent Femmes
The Killers
Peaches & Herms
My Chemical Romance
Spank Rock
Jet
Eskimo Joe
Scribe
Evermore
The Sleepy Jackson (Aus only)
The Herd (Aus only)
The Spazzys (Aus only)
The Veils (NZ only)
Shapeshifter (NZ only)
The Mint Chicks (NZ only)
The Tutts (NZ only)
Minuit (NZ only)
Opensouls (NZ only)
so far i'm only going for Tool. i wouldn't mind checking out Muse again. never heard of Spank Rock. Scribe was surprisingly good last time i saw him. Everything is shit. still dont who's headlining the boiler room. if it's one of those acts then no doubt it will be shit.
seriously, besides Tool, that line up is just as bad as last year's. damn BDO's gone downhill

I might break my self imposed BDO ban if this is true (which, lets face it, is doubtful) just for The Pixies with the hope they might be on form. Ditto for The Who, The Mars Volta and Augie March.
Haha..........and Icehouse.

The first announcement is truly awful. Tool would be good at a sideshow but at BDO they will be pretty dodgy. On the plus side BDO is 100metres from my house this year!!! FUCK YEAH!!!
Only band out of all those i'd want to see is muse really.

i was thinking that today... headline acts usually get, what.. an hour to 1 and a half? that's probably a total of 3 tool songs. ;)

Big day out is at princes park this year like last year, which is where carlton football club's old homeground is.
Prior to last year, big day out was staged at the Melbourne showgrounds.

i'm hoping for some electronic act announcements...
you think peaches will be doing boiler room main timeslot??
i was hoping for basement jaxx, but they will be here in early jan so times don't match :(
noone on the lineup im dying to see... seen heaps of those acts already (not that i wouldn't want to see them again...). tool yeah i want to see, but unless the boiler room act is someone fucking special, everyone will want to see tool, making it hard to see them.
icy manipulator
10-07-2006, 02:27 AM
if peaches is headlining the boiler room i'll slit my wrists. it'd be the biggest let down for a boiler room headline act in the history of BDO. i wouldn't be too keen on basement jaxx headling again just coz i've seen them 3 times already
i'm wishing that Slayer would come.. seriously... they just released their latest album, why not?

Hopefully they announce heaps of australian electronic acts for the boiler room. The presets played last bdo before they were really huge and they went off. So did cut copy. Hopefully this year the midnight juggernauts will play along with maybe riot in belgium and sneaky sound system. Last years electronic acts were awesome: gerling, cut copy, presets, sonicanimation, soulwax, 2manydjs...fucking brilliant.

Gold Coast Ballot
GOLD COAST BIG DAY OUT SOLD OUT!!
+ FINAL 5000 TICKETS SALES INFORMATION
Following the trend of sky-rocketing ticket sales in SYDNEY, tickets to the GOLD COAST BIG DAY OUT event to be held SUNDAY JANUARY 21ST JANUARY 2007 at GOLD COAST PARKLANDS have SOLD OUT in record time.
In light of this demand and in an attempt to thwart scalpers, organisors have held back 5000 tickets that will be released via an online ballot.
These 5,000 tickets will be sold at $125 + bf.
Here’s how it will work:
Each week 500 tickets for the 2007 Gold Coast BDO will be made available on our website via an online randomly drawn ballot.
The ballot will be drawn at 9pm EST Thursday each week, beginning Thursday 26th October and finishing Thursday 28th December.
The weekly ballot ticket limit is 2 tickets per person.
As the Big Day Out overall has a strict limit of 4 tickets per person, if you have previously bought Big Day Out tickets and if upon entering into the ballot you surpass the 4 ticket limit, no tickets will be allocated to you. This will be strictly adhered to.
Registering for the ballot
Registrations will open at 9am EST Friday 20th October.
You will need to complete and submit the ballot registration page on this website.
Your registration will only need to be completed once and will last for the duration of the balloting weeks.
If you are successful in the ballot
An email will be sent to you within 30 minutes of the ballot draw. This will provide details of how to complete the order, ie, pay for your tickets.
You will be given 5 days to pay for your ticket order (until 9pm EST Tuesday following the ballot). If in this time you have not paid for your order, these tickets will be forfeited and put back into the next week's ballot.
Tickets for MELBOURNE, ADELAIDE and PERTH BIG DAYS OUT are still available so why not consider Auckland or Adelaide BDO instead of paying a scalper for their holiday.
Selling tickets for higher than the face value is a breach of the conditions of sale. Tickets sold on auction sites will be declared invalid and the ticket holder will be refused entry. You have been warned.
Good luck.

hmm, they haven't even announced the headline boiler room act. you might be kicking yourself after all :p
but seriously, how do 50000 tickets sell out in a month?! there's only 3 and a half million in SEQ, there cant be that many tool fans!
hitmonlee
11-02-2006, 02:59 AM
i think you underestimate the power of the tool
people who aren't tool fans want to see tool to see what all the fuss is about
plus everyone knows the BDO will sell out so they buy as many tickets as they can, for themself and in case their friends decide to go or whatever. better safe than sorry when it comes to BDO tickets.

i'm thinking trying to buy one on ebay, tell the guy that i dont actually have a credit card and say i'll pay an extra 20% for cash, then smashing the cunt in the face for scalping. i'll leave him face value for the ticket tho. it's the only way they'll ever learn
