View Full Version : Most disturbing scene in a movie?

One that made you shiver and close your eyes, turn away and plug your ears, one that haunted you in your sleep, made you afraid of the dark, etc etc.

For me I would have to say in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. At the very end the narrator says something like this...

"the crime scene was not properly secured by travis county police. investigating officers were fatally wounded that day. This is the only known image of thomas hewitt the man they call leatherface. The case today still remains open."
This ^ acompanied by the photos still gives me shivers today.

You?

The end of Blair Witch Project when the camera shakily makes it way up the stairs and you see one of the kids facing the corner.

No gore. Not particularly jumpy but it made me go eeeeek. Doubly so when we got home from the cinema and my hubby had crept upstairs and was facing the corner in our dark bedroom.

Oh god, just reading that ^^ made my stomach turn over. That's a great movie but I can't watch that scene again even though it was necessary. It was just too effective, too evil and real seeming to me.

I can't watch scenes like it or the one with the evil dentist in whichever movie that was. I can't watch or read about torture. God.

That was horror & fear right there, but the movie did nothing for me. I never understood the appeal of it.

Hehehe - i know what you mean. I thought the film was very disappointing but for some reason that scene really stuck in my head. It's what you don't see is more disturbing to me.

Sounds very tame though to the scenes others are suggesting. :o

AH HAHAHHA! (y)

Hmm. I don't really remember many movies that kept me from sleeping or anything...but one of the most DISTURBING scenes was from Joan of Arc, where this girl's mother puts her in the closet and shuts the door just as this guy comes in to murder the both of them. The guy then puts his sword through the mother, and through part of the door, pinning the woman to the door and having the girl inside the closet see the bloodied sword right next to her. The man proceeds to rape the mother's corpse, as her daughter cries silently inside the closet, waiting for him to finish so she can escape.

WHAT THE FUCK DUDE

Those kinds of scenes serve no purpose towards the plot, it just makes people angry.

Irreversible - but more for the fire extinguisher scene
Freaks - but more for the scene where the guy without arms or legs rolls and lights a cigarette

There is a film (Hundstage "Dog Days") from Austria where a 70 yr old widower makes his housekeeper put on his dead wifes clothes and makes her strip to folk-music, the low point in a very harsh film

Eraserhead - scissor to the "baby" scene. David Lynch you are a genius

Edit: for all AHX curb fans: check the pencil-nose scene in "Brother"

one of the most shocking pieces of cinema i've seen is in chopper when he returns to (his mum's?) house and he headbutts his girlfriend and starts punching his mum. and the thing is, you don't actually see his head meet hers; it's blocked by the doorframe. most of it happens out of shot. but it is just so brutal and unexpected (because he's sort of a nice guy. uh, sometimes..) that when i first saw it i stood up with my hand over my mouth.

you should really all see it. i think i'm going to watch it again tonight, actually.

all this "cinema extreme" like in kids doesn't really get me. some of the film-makers are purposely trying to be controversial, there. which i find sort of tired. oh the horror! teenagers have sex and take drugs and YOU BETTER LOCK THEM UP! and harmony korine is a bit of a dick (almost worked on his film over here, btw!).

ditto to american history x curb scene.

i reckon chopper is one of the bestest movies ever. it seems so farfetched; him getting stabbed so many times in one hit; him confessing to shooting the guy and the cops don't do anything about it... but, taken from chopper's own books.

"i'm semi-bloody-literate!"

na§tee
08-25-2006, 07:49 AM
yeah, it's definitely in my top five.
eric bana's performance is totally 5 star. that man is the greatest actor from the, uh, southern hemisphere.. ever. really under-rated. it was a real transformation - that scene in the bar where he gets his cock out! lolz.
oooooh i just want to go home and watch it now!

Tzar

it can't be his! it's gotta be just a dildo

na§tee
08-25-2006, 07:54 AM
lolz! no, of course it's not his (as in eric bana's) cock. they would have used a fake one. can you imagine the crew?? haha!

for the sex scene in the film i worked on the makeup/prop assistants had to work together to find a suitable and realistic fake cock. it was hilarious. of course, they needed an erect one for the actual sexing, and a flacid one for the scene afterwards - much fun was had with them around the crew, let me tell you that!

na§tee
08-25-2006, 07:55 AM
i'm sorry if i offended anyone by unnecessarily over-using the word "cock".
understand, i don't normally refer to them as, er.. cocks. but chopper, i would assume - he would refer to his penis as a cock. for sure!

I thought the part before it where that guy's getting beaten with the rifle was pretty hard to watch too.
