"That’s alright. You guys in New York can’t get a hole in the ground fixed and it’s five years later. So let’s be fair."
Goes to show what republicans truly think of the WTC site. It is hallowed ground, not a hole in the ground!
New York has sent thousands of people/supplies to help, why burn bridges?

but he has a point.
let's face it....the leadership in the country (on a political level) pretty much sucks all around.

The point was lost when he used the WTC site for a comparison (disrespecting the dead and those who have suffered in both locations).
I'm sure he could have provided some details, reasons, and truth as to why New Orleans is still a mess rather than blaming other cities for their disaster woes.
apples and oranges....unexpected terrorist attack/expected natural disaster

He's a Democrat, though.
"Several news sources including international, non-partisan BBC News have incorrectly stated that Nagin was a registered Republican for most of his adult life, switching to the Democrat shortly before seeking office. In a January 13, 2006 interview on the Tavis Smiley show, Nagin himself confronted these rumors, stating that he "never was a Republican" and that he has been a "life-long Democrat". Several of the news sources reporting that he was a Republican have since issued retractions."

Either way, it's pretty shitty of him to say that Ground Zero is just a "hole in the ground." Yeah, it's harder to rebuild a whole city rather than just 2 skyscrapers, but that doesn't mean they're both terrible jobs that take thousands of man-hours. It's not really a competition of who has shittier disasters.

And here I thought everything in capitalist America was a competition?

Nagin should take a trip to Ground Zero and see for himself the progress that has taken place... ( his PR people will probably set this up as damage control... I can see it now, a press conference with Nagin, Bloomberg, and Bush, smiling for the cameras and enjoying their freedom)
the PATH station underneath Ground Zero has been rebuilt and they are building a mass transit hub for the subways... they have broke ground on the Trade Center Memorial and the *cringe* Freedom Tower...
