I just burned Graceland to my work computer a couple days ago. One of the few absolutely perfect albums.

Yeah, it's one of those albums you don't have to skip any songs on.

I'm lost on this. I have some sort of a roadblock with Paul Simon. I do like James Taylor, or even more Paul Westerberg.....the whole singer songwriter thing is cool, Bob Dylan just cleans up on all of them. As far as white guys.
When you go to cats like Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder....oh well, it's just me I guess because most everybody loves Graceland. I'd never buy it. Happy for all you guys. You and your Paul Simon stuff, hey, remember that movie, "One Trick Pony"? C'mon, it was as goofy as goofy can get. Admit it.

I know, I know....I'm just not a big fan, singer songwriters is the equation I'm using. I have a crapload of singer songwriter music on the wall. I figured if I disagreed it would cause a stir. I've tried to get into Paul Simon, he just doesn't click with me.
Give me,
Elliot Smith, Morrisey, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Jim Croce, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, Gordon Lightfoot, Nick Drake, Tom Rush, Phil Ochs, Eric Andersen, David Blue, Carly Simon, Cat Stevens, Bruce Cockburn, Van Morrison, Townes van Zandt, Harry Chapin, James Taylor, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon, Patti Smith, Don Henly, Robert Palmer, Eddie Money, Huey Lewis, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Merle, Buck, Johnny Paycheck, Paul Westerberg, Tracy Chapman, Aimee Mann, Ray Davies, Phil Ochs, fucking Glenn Cambell, Joan Osbourne, Patti Griffin, Dave Matthews, Tom Petty, John Denver, Nelly Furtado, Jewel, Carole King, Donovan..... There must be 50 ways for me to listen singer songwriters before I listen to Paul Simon.
Paul Simon is ahead of Billy Joel though, I would listen to Paul before Billy.

His first solo album (Paul Simon) and Graceland are horses of another color for him. Some of his stuff is produced so precisely studio-squeaky-clean (There Goes Rhymin' Simon) that it can be a little tough to enjoy if you're used to something a bit rougher. Paul Simon and Graceland are clean as hell, too, but the soulfulness is more apparent, I think.

Perhaps you've changed your mind since, but I agree. I think that in part it's because he gave such incredibly pompous interviews when I was a teenager and read every music magazine. I liked Simon and Garfunkel though.
I've never given this particular album a fair chance because of the music video with Chevy Chase.
