is a great album. i dont think critics like it that much though, i never saw it on any of them "best album" lists. i think its right up there with dark side of the moon and wish you were here.

I appreciate long songs. A lot of my favorite songs are long. Karn Evil 9 by Emerson Lake & Palmer is my favorite song and it's 29 minutes long.

it's not up there with the piper, meddle and dark side, but it is pretty damn good indeed.

Animals is a masterpiece.

fun fact:

'Animals' syncs up with the Japanese animated masterpiece 'Akira' much like 'Dark Side' syncs with 'Wizard of Oz'

no joke, I've seen it.

Blah oh it's not as much of a masterpiece; oh greatest of their albums...oh bleh...seriously people, WHO GIVES A FUCK? Why are you people so opinionated?

O_O that's creepy...unless the directer was a Pink fan...

my question is this -

how is it they sync up when the movie is around 2 hours long and the album is 40 minutes? do you put the album on replay or some shit?

pink floyd is probably the only artist who can make songs over 10 minutes long that i can throughly listen to.

I will always love Pigs.

There's a really special guy whose favorite Floyd album is Animals so I've always cut it a lot of slack.

There's a pretty cool recording of Colonel (Les) Claypool and the Flying Frog Brigade playing the entire Animals album live in it's entirety, uninterrupted. Though I'm normally pretty anti-Claypool, I have to admit it's frighteningly well interpreted by those guys. Worth a listen. Oh yeah, and he does the whiny Waters voice pretty convincingly as well.

Although "Animals" is a pretty wicked album, nothing will ever beat "Meddle"; what an incredible, not to mention staggeringly underrated album.

I should give it another chance. The ex burned me a copy and said it was one of his favorites, but I felt it was too "out there" for me at that time. But that was 2001 and my tastes have changed.

I don't know where my copy is now. :(
