I've been thinking about who could ever capture Nick's sound. Maybe Flea, but it would probably just wind up like Navarro in the Peppers did. But yeah, if he ever got upset enough about being third fiddle in the John Frusciante Experience, maybe.

Nah -- if Flea + QotSA is a good fit. He knows their stuff.

I just sent him a PM, blaming you. I expect a reply never.

I am personally responsible for all misery and/or quandary in this world; fair enough.

I think Flea's gotten over his discontent. Hasn't he?

I never really cared about any of RHCP's music until Blood Sugar Sex Magik. And I still don't. And yeah, Frusciante did completely alter the direction of the band when he returned, but I don't mind it. He saved them. They're in their forties, man. If anything, they're just displaying a little maturity now, and not making asses out of themsleves by trying to desperately cling to their youth.

I don't think that QOTSA can be helped at this point. Unless Nick does return. He gave the band and Josh an opposing dynamic. Without him it's just pretty generic rock. I like their last album, but I didn't love it or anything.

Flea joining QOTSA would just be embarrassing for all involved, though.

If Flea were to join QOTSA, I could see it only happening in the same way that Dave Grohl joined QOTSA -- on a temporary basis.

Personally I think that'd be a great idea. Flea would be an excellent addition, but I don't think he'd leave RHCP permanently for Queens.

I definitely agree with this. Josh does need someone to help shape and even perhaps restrain some of his ideas. Right now there's noone in QOTSA that can do that. It was always Josh's band, but the significance of Nick's role as a counterbalance has become pretty evident after the last record.

but Flea? where did this come from? worst idea ever. although Joey Castillo is a good drummer, having Brant Bjork join would be sweet.

edit: no matter how average the RHCP are now, Frusciante is a badass.
