View Full Version : I wish banks and credit card companies wouldn't print all that info on the statements

Seriously. It means that, when it comes time, everything has to be shredded instead of just chucked out.

I mean, I know what my credit card number is; why not just print the last four digits on the statement for corroboration, if need be?

I'm betting that grownups never throw out their statements or pay stubs or whatever, but I do. It's a drag to have to tend to my trash more than reasonably necessary.

I just tear it up. I figure if someones gonna be lame enough to sort thru the trash and peice back together a statement on a credit card with less than a $1000 limit, I can just contest what they spend if it happens.

If I don't take it to work and shred it, I either tear off the crucial info and burn it or tear it into bits and flush it. I'd rather not do the latter, though; it's not good.

the same thing goes for vendors/restaurants/retailers... I hate when the receipt shows my card number...

I went to a bar in February and opened an $11 bar tab, havent been back since...

I checked my account last week and had two charges from the bar- one for $75 and one for $50...

who knows how someone got a hold of those numbers...its pretty easy to see that a bartender or the owner is up to something fishy...

needless to say, I am disputing the charge...

There's never enough credit on my credit card to make it worth anyone's while to steal the number.

Unless they want my overlimit charges, that is.
