Cosmo, why do you call boomin Steger? Is it his first or last name, or a nikname?

I'm pretty sure it's the name of the airship he flew during the great patriotic war.

She took the first three letters of his first name "Steven" and the first three letters of his last name "German" and made up her own little nick name. You have to forgive them for that, they don't have cable.

EMMMBEEEESTEGER!

i guess certain surnames lend themselves better to be used as nicknames. sort of germanic, hard surnames sound the best.
like steger. shatner. hasselhoff. hitler.

No, she just calls me things she makes up on her own. No mickill, no micster, no killa, no sexy lamb....just names she comes up with and I somehow end up responding to over time.

A.C is short for Albert Clifford. Seriously.

My ex used to call me 'Bay', short for 'Baby'. I fucking hated that shit.

"Bay, I know it's three in the morning but can you run to the store and get me some Coke?"

"Bay, I know you're right in the middle of eating but let me tell you what I saw on the bathroom floor at work today."

Bay this and Bay that. I didn't like it because she was the second one to call me that and whenever she did it always reminded me of the first one.

Before I met him, I'd been wanting to call someone "Love" as a term of endearment. Like "alright, Love, I'll get the ice cream, you get the movie" or "Bye, Love, talk to you later" But it hasn't come naturally to me and I don't know how to go about bringing in a new nikname. I think a good way to start would be to start saying it only when I'm really sleepy OR when I'm talking really fast or acting hyper. Then it either comes out at a time when I can't explain myself or at a time when he's being bombarded by my talking so it would breeze right by and he won't have time to think "what was that?" After a while I'll say it when leaving in the morning and he's asleep, then before long I'll be able to use it on the phone.

nope.

ste'ger (stee gur) n It's his last name.

in real life, i of course call him Matt, his first name. but steger's such a wicked last name, pretty much everyone calls him that. besides, there are a bunch of Matts on this board and everyone knows him as Steger. it's like we're on the same football team and i can run by and smack him on the ass and say GOOD SCRIMMAGE STEGER and we crack our helmets together and go HUH!

more often than not it's "hon," though.

Mr. Boomin'Granny
08-30-2006, 08:25 PM
Why not?

I think I answer to Steger more than I do Matthew, or even Matt.

Part of the reason is that my last name is so "unique" or unpopular and fun to say that it became the prominent nickname during high school and college for me. And at my work there was more than 2 other Matt's that worked there, so naturally they started calling me Steger.
