They're getting to me. Wake up at 6:30, shower, dress, go to the Metro, commute for an hour, sit behind my desk, do work when I have it, clock out at 5:00, commute back home for an hour, get home by 6:30, sleep from 7:00 - 1 AM, wake up, go online/talk to Brett, go to sleep at 2:00, wake up at 6:30. It's a neverending cycle. And it pisses me off because when I'm not working, I'm sleeping. That's no way to live. My naps are goddamn killing me, but I'm always so exhausted when I get home. I feel so stuck, like, is this all I'm going to do with my life? Work all the time, wait for the weekend, and wait until I have vacation time stacked up before I get to do what I really want?

Is anyone else out there stuck in a routine they're dying to break free of?

im dieing to GET a routine. This evening for example I was so tired I fell asleep on the couch from 7pm-10pm.

Isnt it hard for you to go back to sleep at 2am after sleeping til 1 am?

Also, if I am on a routine during the week, the weekend usually ruins it! Cause I always want to sleep in/stay up later.

It sometimes is harder, but I love sleep so most of the time I can just lie down and conk out.

I just hate being so predictable. I think maybe I'll start taking classes part-time so I at least have new people to talk to and new and different things to learn everyday. I just hate seeing the same people everyday, doing the same thing. I'm a spontaneous person, I like adventure and new things, so this is kinda making me feel like I have cabin fever or something. i'm stuck in a routine that i'd like to break free of, but every time i try to do something about it, it blows up in my face.

but I'm always so exhausted when I get home.

Seriously, it could well be a deficiency problem.
Sleep is when your body processes toxins and renews cells, the more you have in you, the more you need. Plus, your body needs tools for this job, so if you are missing out on B-vits, then it will be even worse. Some people can cope just fine, but if you are tried, then you probably can't. It would also be a good idea to get your iron levels checked, or just take a 100% RDA tab with a glass of orange juice, any bigger dose than that is not a good idea.

I used to work hugely long and stressful nightshifts as a nurse, and went to college during the day, and eating very, very well kept me going.

It's also a good idea to try and keep yourself awake when you get home, even if you have to do that with coffee, as sleeping in one block is much better. If sleep is broken, the body doesn't get a chance to enter deep sleep properly, and that's when all the real renewal and work happens.

Having a 4 month old = Routinesville

6am - get woken up by a little person coo-ing away
6.30 - breakfast for me & hubby, bottle for Ava
7.15 - hubby goes to work, Ava and I get dressed
Playtime....
10.00 - "2nd breakfast" for Ava - a bottle and usually banana porridge
10.30 - Out and About or housework - sometimes get online at some point when Ava naps
1.30 - Lunch
Playtime...
4.30 - Give Ava her tea - prepare tea for myself and hubby
5.30 - Ava has "daddy time"
7.00 - I have a bath...my half an hours relaxation!
7.30 - Ava bathtime
8.00 - Ava has bottle and then by 9pm she is Zzzzzzz

Same thing - day in day out. And i wouldn't change it for the world! :)

In October though it's all change. I go back to work! :/

Edit: I do like a routine though because i am a bit of a control freak. I'm the one with the day by day itinery when we go on holiday much to the annoyance of others.

That's cool that QA gets up especially to talk to Droppin.(y)

(not that I would, but still good for you two.)

:o Yeah, but he wasn't on last night. What a bum.

I got my thyroid/iron levels checked out in high school. It was bad because they inject you with iodine which gives you the feeling that you REALLY HAVE TO PEE RIGHT NOW OR ELSE YOU'LL EXPLODE! for about 30 seconds, but you don't really have to at all. Either way, I'm low on hemoglobin, iron, and something else I can't remember. I've always been that way since I was a baby which is why I'm always tired, or at least, always willing to nap. I've been trying to eat more things with iron, but it looks like I'll probably have to take supplement pills. I don't know what helps the hemoglobin count, and that's what I really need because it's what brings oxygen to my brain to keep me alert.

I need to stop taking naps, but right after dinner and the Simpsons, it's so easy. I wish I could drink coffee, but I'm super sensitive to it because I have higher anxiety and can't have any caffeine. Sux0rz. :(

Even without the naps, I'd probably end up doing the same thing over and over. TV, dinner, hang out with brother, take a walk, go to sleep. Bleh.

I don't know what helps the hemoglobin count

Ahhh, that would be folic acid and B12. Get thyself to the shops!
They incourage bone marrow production which helps the hemoglobin count. You should feel results in 30-60 days at the most.

i would definetly crash out on the train every morning and probably at night as well...

when i was woring my internship back in the spring, it was easier to break from the routine since people were still around for school, and both of my roommates were taking calsses and such. but i can see how not having that would suck you into a boring lifestyle...

that's exactly why the whole 40 hours a week thing is stupid and i don't see why its necesary to spend at least half of your awake time each day doing usually mindless work

Yea, I am shocked at that. I did the long distance thing...granted it was only an hour time change when we talked on the phone but I still cant imangine setting my alarm to get up in the middle of the night to talk to someone. I have a hard enough time falling asleep!

Ahhh...I guess it's love.

routine is a part of life, unless you decide to live differently from the "norm"

i.e. a backpack on your back, doing odd jobs here and there, traveling, etc. Which I've always admired and have considered doing but I'm the kind that has a dire fear of doing something like that alone. Mainly because I flip out when I get completely lost and I'm a woman and would like to avoid getting raped/murdered.

Have a kid or a 2nd job. Routines fly right out the window.

No, it's that I wake up naturally and I *would* normally go back to sleep, but I force myself awake so I can talk to him. Alarm is a little extreme, because I can always talk to him the next day.

Still sweet though, right? Me being sleep deprived? Yeah, I thought so. Now I don't have to bake him cookies or anything because my good girlfriend quota's full.

routines revolving around work are a cancer to the soul.
i can't do office jobs, cubicle, desk jobs.
i actually feel myself die an agonizingly slow death.

bartending and school is where it's at.
in 2 years, i'll either bartend somewhere else and plan on my master's
or do that later and join the armed forces...

monotony is death.

I know what you mean. Every day it's wake up and make the toast, read the newspaper, put my coat on, go out of the house, kill a child from the nearby school, blah blah blah etc yawwwwn

Except on Wednesdays, when you get rudely awakened by the dustmen.
