that you realise how much you actually use it.
Really, fingers are good and all that, but they're rubbish if you can't grab stuff with your thumbs. Ouch.

Yeah, that's pretty stupid. :p
How do you staple your own thumb anyway? Do you mean with an electric stapler because in that case I can sortof see where you went wrong.
It's the reason I hardly ever use sharp electrical appliances.

all you had to do to realise that your thumb is in fact useful was to imagine yourself as a dog, innit.

Yeah but I didn't imagine myself as a dog because I ain't that kinky and I didn't know the whole thumbcutting business was gonna happen, did I. If I knew it was gonna happen, I would've removed my thumb and it wouldn't 've happened afterall.
Oh actually, a thought just struck me...
I AM that kinky. Woof woof!

Um, i was kinda playing around with a stapler, and for some reason, I had my thumb on the part that actually stapled, I think it was because I was trying to fix it or something, and I pressed down and yeah, right into my thumb, twice. It sucked. At first I didnt realize what I did, until I felt the sting a little bit later, and then I looked at it and the first thought that came to my head was "SWEET!!" and then It started to hurt..
Guess I am kinda stupid. Oh well.
