Fark, I've been actually following my bank account lately (as opposed to checking it once a month or so) and I noticed that they charged me $24 for this month for ATM fees. Admittedly it's partly my fault because I use whichever ATM is closest and don't take out much, but still, what a cunt. Everything is on visa from now on.
speaking of visas i have a question. i just opened a new bank account, and they've given me (well, they will give me, it hasn't come in the mail yet) a visa check card, which apparently can be used as either a debit card or a credit card. how does that work? by that i mean, what are the mechanics of it? i mean, it's a piece of plastic, when i give it to the clerk do i have to say "put it on debit please"? what if it's one of those swipe machines? do they allow you an option to specify? maybe it'll be obvious once it gets here, but i've never used a credit/debit card before now.

no, I'm done :p
Basically you'll just tell them it's on credit. It acts like a credit card but instead of adding to your credit it deducts from your savings. The card can also be used at an ATM. That's what I mean when I say visa too. Credit cards themselves are evil imo.

a good thing to do is to put your everyday expenses whenever possible on a credit card thats tied to your bank acct. you get an online thing where you can keep track of what you spend, your limit and your due dates. i spend what id normally spend, except i put it on credit, and move the same amount of money from my checking to savings and the use that money at the end of the month to pay off the credit. its a good way to manage your money and build credit
