He set that kid straight, at least. Now he knows all there is to know about the world of masturbation.

I'm sure by the time that kid is 25, he would have learned a whole new set of procedures.

About a month ago I watched the entire first season of 'Weeds' on DVD. Then the second season started shortly thereafter and I haven't been able to see any of it.

Although it's a totally different kind of show, I think it's going to be my replacement for 'The Sopranos' once it's totally not making any new episodes.

i knd of wanted to get into this myself, but its on showtime, and i don't know if i get that channel anymore, nor do i know what channel it is

i like weeds. it's a funny show. not "the bestest show ever, omgzzz!". but good entertainment when the genre seems to be lacking sometimes.

you wouldn't expect a comedy about a suburban housewife selling pot to have so much drama...

but i still like it.
kevin nealon is gold.

with the first couple of episodes, i really didn't care whether i watched it or not.

but recently we were watching some past episodes and all of a sudden i loved it. the one linked in the first post was gold. and i think the only other show that moves as quick is entourage. also gold.

I'm really surprised by how much I like this show so far. Mary Louise Parker is hot, but she also usually really gets on my nerves, so I
held off on checking this out until now. She's fine in this.

Some of the writing is really, really, really observant. Very sharp -- especially some of the stuff with the kids. I'm about finished with
disc one from season one, so I don't know where it goes from here -- I really think I could've done without this Andy dude -- but so far, I'm in. (y)

Pretty horrifying to imagine any family actually living like this, though.

Yeah, it's good, but season one was a total snooze-fest for me. I loved season 2 and from what I hear, season 3 is just as good if not better.

The dude from 40 Year Old Virgin played MC Hammer in the MC Hammer movie. lol

Really?

But you went on to season two anyway, or did you see them out of order?

Good show. I liked the first season the best but its still entertaining. Last nights episode was pretty good because of what happened at the end with U-Turn. Oooo and the season opener with Doug and the other dude in the bathroom...sooo fucking good.

No, my girlfriend loves the show. So, anytime I would hang out with her, we would watch it. I liked season 2 from the getgo, so it was alot easier to get into it. I think the reason behind taking so long to warm up to it was my gf's friend who turned her onto Weeds was comparing it to Arrested Development, which made me feel contempt for the show before I ever watched an episode.

Rock

The only thing semi worthy of being compared to Arrested Development is Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Kevin Nealon is probably the best thing about Weeds.

You think? He barely even registers with me. I don't know if it's the actor or the character, but he seems like a pretty big zero.

I like how he is just a big kid that is all sorts of fucked up or does all sorts of fucked up things, but everyone in town seems to love him.

I think you've seen more of the shows than I have, too. Maybe there's more that goes on in the episodes I haven't seen.

How many seasons are on DVD? How many episodes are in a season?

I do not have Showtime so I am thinking of renting the DVD sets and watch them with my wife. I think we might like this show.

abcdefz
09-18-2007, 10:55 AM
I think the first two seasons are out. The first season is two discs. I think there were six or seven half hour shows on disc one. That's all I've seen so far.

DIGI
09-18-2007, 11:19 AM
Both season 1 and 2 have 2 discs I think. My friend downloaded it, so I'm not sure. Elizabeth Perkins (Celia) is my favorite character. I didn't like Nealon at first, but he grows on you.

ScarySquirrel

Man, season 3 needs to hurry up and get over so it can come out on DVD. My only big complaint is that the episodes need to be longer than a half hour... I think something more like an hour would do it.

I thought she was really hot in Avalon, in a real 50's-young-mom kinda way.

I'm liking season three an awful lot so far (discs one and two -- disc three is coming).

Somehow, Andy's not as annoying as before.

And whoa -- Mary Kate is pretty hot. She's never been on my radar, and she's still too young, but I was kinda shocked.

Mary Louise definitely stays in shape. (y)

Season 4 started with a relocation.

But not as much skin as advertised (http://www.theworldsbestever.com/2007/07/27/mary-louise-parker-nude-weeds-01.jpg).

Moving a show is always tricky.

This was the last time they used Little Boxes as the theme song.
Which is good since now I don't have to collect any more versions of it.

But I can't tell you what I meant since that would be a spoiler.

actually, yeah. (y) Doug and Dean together crack me up.

I love this show so very much. I'm just finishing up season 3. and I'm a little bummed I don't have showtime to see the new season as it happens.

I really do not follow many TV shows what so ever. TV bores the hell out of me as a rule. 4th of July weekend, I had 3 days in a row with nothing to do. Went to Blockbuster and rented WEEDS. Proceeded to watch all three seasons in a matter of 2 weeks! I am enamored with Nancy. She's like this superhero goddess to me. ...and Celia Hodes, omg I only wish I could speak an ounce of the truths that come out of her mouth. "I've got Cancer and Jungle Fever and one of 'em's gettin cured tonight!" Love love love this show. I don't have Showtime so I have to wait till Season 4 is on DVD sadly. But I eagerly await. I think my favorite scene thus far was in Season 3 when Nancy snaps, comes home, strips in the kitchen and jumps in the pool and screams with that song by The Thermals kickin in. OMG WEEDS <3 x infinity - I am actually considering driving up to Stevenson Ranch not far from my house some random Sunday just to see the little boxes and go get an iced latte and drive around pretending I'm Nancy Pants.

It would be so dope if the Beastie Boys did a song for this show...

I hear they cut "Little Boxes" now.

Is the new theme song any good?

TAL

They used Little Boxes for the last time in the first episode of this season, as I posted before.

Since then they have new music for each episode.

Season 4 started out crazy, but felt like it hit a lull in the last few episodes. We can all forgive the writers, afterall... we did see Mary-Louise Parker in the full nude, didn't we?

shameless bump

i finally got around to starting season 1 on dvd. i just watched the first 3 episodes and i am definitely sucked in. mary louise parker really turns me on in an odd way, as well....

but i can see this being my obsessively watched show until i catch up. so there are 3 seasons out on dvd now? and a 4th on tv?
