A little over a year ago I'd quit smoking, and was quite the proud lass, but when I left the hub, my nerves of steel turned into strings of tangled spaghetti. I started smoking again, and have been ever since.
After reading MOAnotLoL's post, it made me think a little. I have some minor stupid health problems that would probably be less minor if I kicked the habit again.
Now I sit here with my last stick of delicious Camel Light nectar in my final pack and my Eazy E lighter, which is almost out of spark. Starting tomorrow I am going back on Nicotine gum, which really helped me the last time I quit, though I hated the heart burn it gave me. And this time I was smart enough to buy the mint flavoured shit, so now it will taste like I'm chewing a Newport instead of a Pall Mall.
I may end up replacing the cig carton space in my fridge with a carton of Little Debbie Fudge Rounds, and my ass may get so big it could be used as a floatation device for overly obese Sumo Wrestlers, but at least I'll be healthier.

Thanks..but Eazy E is alllll mine, kids.

I used those Honeyrose herbal cigarettes that you can get in health food shops, or online http://www.honeyrose.co.uk/
They come in loads of flavours and are pretty much harmless and nicotine free. I used patches as well, but at least when I really just wanted to light something and smoke it, they were there. It's rather like breathing in thin air though, but they are cheap compared to UK cig prices.
I smoked them for about a 2 months after I gave up, many years ago, but my husband is one of those eternal smokers who will always be at risk of starting again, so he keeps some around to this day, just in case he gets the urge that can't be quashed.
Good luck.

vanilla cigarettes! no way! (i'm a sucker for anything vanilla, man)
we have a hookah at home that my flatmate bought for the very purpose of trying to curb off the smoking cigarettes and onto, well, flavoured molasses. i'm a non-smoker myself (i promised my grandpappy that i never would like a good girl) but that shit is nice. we have apple and cherry flavoured "tobaccos". very greasy, very fragrant. it does make you so sort of light headed which i guess must be because of the nicotine - who knows. but i'm not addicted. the hookah hasn't even been used in about 3 months.. but now as it's getting to winter it would be great to whip it out more often and sit inside a nice warm flat practicing your smoke rings.
smoke rings are cool. i can sorta do them now but damn, it took a long time.
oh, yeah: good luck, bitcha! you can do it. do it for your soooonnnnn! yeah man, someone had to come up with the "you might die earlier which would be sucky" theme so i'll take a bow for this one!

Thanks!
I may check out those herbal smokes.
The gum has worked for me before, but it too can be addictive.
I remember when I was pregnant with Aiedyn I ate a lot of carrots in place of smoking.

yeah, gum, lozenges have more nicotine in them so if you go back to ciggies i reckon you smoke more. it sucks (n)
