Im done with festivals. Sleeping in shitty muddy tents, pooping in portaloos overflowing with piss, sick and shit, having drunkards fall on top of you in the middle of the night, eating over priced food and booze and looking at bands you detest (like the Pet Shop Boys) cuz ur just waiting for someone you like to start (Cut Chemist). Living in squalor to see someone play for an hour whilst being robbed by all the vendors is no way for civilised people to live. PLus i hate hippies, and this place was over flowing with drugged up crusties trying to hug everyone. Death to them.

There was however some highlights...I shook DJ Shadow's hand.

Ive never met a legitamate "hero" of mine, but on Saturday at a music festival he walked past me and shook my hand. Im not to big on meeting people or getting autographs or anything but it was cool. gay, i know.

He gave a wee interview in a tent before his set, the interviewer was a dipshit who knew nothing about anything. You could see her head begin to melt when Shadow mentioned hyphy and David Banner when all she clearly knew was UNKLE. Then the floor was thrown open for a questions for the fans, only one dude got to ask one and it was a dumb question about UNKLE and Shadow unwittingly mocked him. We laughed like sycophantic smug assholes.

His set was amazing, Lateef showed up, made us all jump about. he had some really gay visuals for the Banner song with Banner rapping at the camera but other wise it was the best gig ive ever been too. The new stuff works surpisingly well in his set.

Also at the festival i saw Grandmaster Melle Mel, which was the stupidest thing ever.He danced about in a white flatcap with no shirt on like something from a male burlesque show. He played the 4 songs he ever recorded (including the full vocals and all version of "White Lines" which he just shouted over)....then started doing hip-hop kareoke, then resorted to just playing records including Madonna's "Holiday" and closing with (!?) Nirvana's "Smells like teen spirit". All the drunkards loved it. I laughed.

But i now feel like shit, my back hurts and i smell like grass.

Kill All Hippies.

You're past it, old man.

Sadly, this may be true. But thing is, there were loads of way older people than me able to hack it.

I must add, we went on a road trip prior to said festival, where we drank for 3 days, and by the time we arrived at the festival i was fairly frazzled.

But yeah, i cant hack it.

I think it depends on which festivals you go to. I've been to some awful ones, but also some great ones like Sziget in Budapest, which was amazing.

Well if you're not drinking at said festival, and you're hungover instead, then i think the fun kinda goes out of rolling around in mud in what were previously some of your better clothes.

Although i sympathise with what you're saying about the vendors and shit inside the ring. It's fucking rediculous half the time but there's not many options, sooo...

Ransack the local army base for that chicken tikka in the pot that cooks it for you when exposed to air! yeeee

yeah..true. Its more the lifestyle tho im not into. Plus it tends to rain in Ireland alot. It was patchy at this one...only rained a few times. I dont like rain.

I think the problem maybe i dont have wide-ranging enough musical tastes to justify going to these things. I pretty much singled out all the hip-hop/breakbeat and stuck to them and one or two singers i dig, so the rest of the time i drunk beer and waited for which ever shitehawk was on stage to stop.

yup..Chemist was there...and....

was amazingly disapointing. really. It was pretty much just a breakbeat set, he did (of course) some amazing scratch routines and one or two funny things with a sampler but most of it was pretty boring. Maybe i dont know the new record enough but the gig was dullish. or maybe its cuz i wasnt on drugs.

omg! Think about having sex in your tent at a christmas festival! Purrrrr.
Although X-mas and tent would mean your arse gets frozen to your sleeping bag, so I think I'd prefer sex at a summer festival and roll through the mud with my 'victim'.

That'd be like that crunchie advert, you know, where the man eats one despite already being excited. Your head would explode or something! Or maybe in this case you'd just cum really quickly, that'd probably ruin the festival for the both of you.

I think i'm overthinking this!

Me neither, it's like a standard Hip hop album, one or two killer, the rest filler.
And I hate getting drunk cause everyone does...
