im not all that impressed by it

it sounds overproduced and uses a fair amount of compression. besides the sound it seems uninspired

maybe a few more listens will correct this. hopefully

there's a few standout tracks

so far the only tracks I'm diggin are the title track, the single and a track somewhere in the middle that could only be described as "groovy".

sometimes I wish Tom Morello would just play his guitar instead of trying to make it imitate the sound of a cat dying.

it seeme like they only recorded a few tracks specifically for this album and the rest are just left overs from the recording sessions for the second album.

I think the firstn tow were kinda patchy, but the songs by them I like I tend to really like. I heard that the title track on the new one was pretty standout.

And I'm a Chris Cornell fan (y)

My revelation is I could hardly be bothered by Audioslave. They have a few catchy songs that go over well between the real good stuff thats out there, but overall what are they accomplishing? Nothing new or earth shattering here.

they are like modern day classic rock. which i feel is needed just as much as "earth shattering" shit.

the second half of the cd is definitely better than the first. they should have just released an ep. it's only been a year since the last album.

I've been seeing the "Original Fire" video in regular rotation 'round these parts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CUkoME-RSY

It's a good video, and I'm even enjoying the song, but part of me is going: "Uh, guys. This was called 'Renegades of Funk' and you did this 6 years ago already."

I guess they needed a more rock-centric list of rebels, since they did all the rap & funk artists for "Renegades of Funk."

"Original Fire" is easily the best song on the album and probably the best single they've ever released.

TurdBerglar

I like Audioslave but the Rolling Stone review of Revalations said it best:

"Audioslave is a collection of great ideas that rarely adds up to a great song."

there's a shitload of potential in audioslave that they rarely live up to. morrello is getting extremely repetitive and the rhythm section, as well all know(RATM), can do much more. cornel seems to be on track with his lyrics but he can also do much better. even so they are still one of the best bands of this day but that's not saying much.

what i like about the lyrics is that they work so much better when they're sung, rather than seeing them written down.

Refreshing an old thread, I guess...

I've been into Audioslave ever since their first album, and I've been into RATM ever since they broke up (I was sooooo sad, when I bought my Renegades MC and then found out I bought an MC of a ghost-band...). Recently I've decided that 'A' is good enough to buy their two newer albums [got bored with the 'original' mp3s...]. Sweeeeeeet. They DO have potential; I wish they came to Poland some day. I'd wear my t-shirt with crossed out Guevara. Mmmm...

When they say 'fuck the police' or 'down with the establishment' they mean Iraq and socialists, right? ;)

I thought it was a bit pap when I first listened to it, but now after heavy rotation in the car and much screaming along, i love it.

So much so that we're covering "shape of things to come" in my band. I love screaming!!:)

Covering Morello is still too hard for my band... We prefer easier smash hits like Smells like... or Song 2.

What I like about Revelations is that all the songs are at the same level, quite good level.
