...I'm thinking "dumbest" as in "philosophically stupid," not grammatically stupid (e.g. "In this ever-changing world in which we live in").

I just heard Billy Joel on the supermarket's P.A. system this morning and cringed at

"When you love someone, you're always insecure."

Ugh. Get some therapy, sir.

A couple of others:

"Sex is violent" - Jane's Addiction

and, of course

"Hope I die before I get old." - The Who

(That one might not qualify, since maybe the singer and/or writer really does hope that rather than advocating it, per se, which brings us to

"It's better to burn out than to fade away" - Neil Young)

Yes? No? Thoughts?

I don't know if this qualifies, as it's not an otherwise good song, but I couldn't bear that Britney lyric

'I was born to make you happy'

May as well just give up her right to vote while she's at it.

Cobain was one of those guys like that... came up with some great songs, but some of his "profound" thoughts are just shit.

Kinda like F. Scott Fitzgerald. :D

-- which reminds me of Bob Mould:

"If I could find the answer to that question then I'd know" -- Sugar

Um. Well... yeah...?
