Who went and at what age were you?
I ask this because my friend and I were discussing the concert we both went to and how our other 2 friends did not go because they thought it might be too dangerous for them (we were 16). So I told him "yea, a bunch of fans on the site said they went." but a few things confused us when I gave him the statistics...........

I went to the July 26, 1987 New Orleans show. I was 17. It was on the Together Forever tour with Run DMC. There was a lot of bad press prior to this show. So we had to go through metal detectors and stuff...which was pretty odd back then.
They didn't have the mechanical/inflatable penis. And the girls in the cages were from the audience...they stayed fully clothed. They opened with No Sleep. They spilled/sprayed more beer than they drank. They closed with FFYR...but Yauch and Mike came back on stage to help sing Run DMC's encore of Walk This Way. I'm also pretty sure I saw Molly Ringwald side stage during the Beastie set.
Fun times!!! (y)

yea, they had metal dectectors, too at MSG. I bought my walkman/recorder with me because I wanted to record the show (does anyone remember the episode of "WHATS HAPPENING" with ReRun trying to bootleg the Doobie Brothers concert?) and they took my batteries out. I asked them "why?" and they said that I might use them as "projectiles"!
my friend and I spoke about how that he and I were just about the only white kids at the garden that night. I rememeber paying $17.50 for 18th row floor tickets.
ahhh....those were the days!

tell me about it. I bought the beastie boys tour program that night and left it on the seat and I went to dance a few feet away and some black kid went by and swiped my book!! my friend and I were stunned until my friends mother grabbed the kid and almost slapped the shit outta him. then security came along with "Pops" (he was featured in the tour program)and grabbed the kid and threw him out.

I would say it was predominently white at the New Orleans concert even though Run DMC was headlining.
I was on the floor but there were no rows...it was GA, and $16.50 for my ticket.

Post more about what you guys remember. I want more details. What did you expect to see? Did it live up to your expectations? Was anything surprising? Did you like the crowd?
I didn't like them back then. It took me a long time to get the joke. :p

I got to the New Orleans show about an hour before the doors opened and there were already about a 50 people camped out in a line. They were all fratboy types with lots of empty beer cans.
I also heard a rumor that the Beasties took a cab to the venue...and the cop that was directing traffic at the arena almost didn't let them in.
Before the lights went down there was one fight up in the stands. But the police presence got that under control quickly.
A few minutes before the Beasties set started they unveiled a very large Beastie Banner that looked like a dollar bill with their caricatures.
The Run DMC set started with pretty cool laser show.
