That's fuckin cool. Damn, did Mike D ever cheer up? Someone said he might have been sick, was that the case? Either way, awesome work.
Edit: It's none of my business if he was sick. It's just unnerving to see The Rapper Mike D so subdued. Maybe a small stage, or a furnace-penis incident.
Edit 2: But I digress, Slow and Low is the shit. Always was, always will be.

What a fun night! The cause is near and dear to our hearts so I want to thank the Beastie Boys for getting involved in the plight of the city's homeless animals. The night had a great vibe with all the animal lovers performing. Reading this thread I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who enjoyed the other music but I'm glad to see I wasn't. (We especially enjoyed Joe Hurley and the Gents and will make a point to see them again sometime.)
It was also great to meet so many good people from this message board (y)
To my later surprise hubby was making videos during the Beastie Boys set. They turned out pretty nice, so enjoy (I hope the links work)

I've got my one and only chance at an internet cafe so I want to say a few things and I hope they make sense.
I want to thank all the New Yorkers who post regularly, who just lurk, and who do neither but came to the show. There were so many great things (I agree with whoever said it doesn't feel real -- it still doesn't feel real to me), but one thing that made it different was the crowd. And not just the fools who lost it when BBs took the stage. From the minute I got in line, people couldn't have been nicer. I was EARLY but there was already a line and Jenny was up front. The people behind Jenny who by rights should have been second or third let all the board regulars in ahead of them. I don't know if they're lurkers but they said something like we earned it for traveling. There were actually some people there for the animals -- I met some. I wonder what they thought if they hung in for the whole show.
I've seen the band in a bunch of places, but there is something different about seeing them do the songs about New York in New York. I loved the MSG show and this was completely different but very cool.
I know that some of you have been showing around your out of town guests (like BGirl did for me) and that is so appreciated. I'm glad that people are getting something out of NYC other than just that wonderful show.
It was great meeting everyone. I was sorry that I missed saying goodbye to some people. I was thrilled with where I wound up during the show (thanks to youngremy). It was great being at eye level with the band but still close, and it was also fun to be standing above all you fools from the board and see you losing it during the show. I don't think Rob ever put his hands down.
There is so much to say and I still can't process it. This whole trip has been mind blowing. You folks have covered it and there will be more detailed reports from people who have better memories.
Right now, the thing that strikes me is seeing Mike just jump into a cab and go home, and Adrock doing the same thing.
(the thing I got out of the other acts was a sense of NYC--the variety of kooky people doing there thing)

By the way, I was the guy with the Paul's Boutique shirt with my wife on the stairs to the bar. Met a couple of super nice board people but don't know they're BBMB names. Anyway, just wanted to say it was a great show and it was nice to meet you all.
I was standing in front of you. It was very very kind of you to let me stand there. I remember that you go all the way back as a fan. :)
The other crazy thing that hit me near the end of the set was when I realized that I was standing in between youngremy and lyneday and they were both filming and they had both filmed the movie.
Also, about an hour before the BBs came out, Bionic told me that he was going to get through the five feet of people that separated us from the stage and make it up front right as the BBs came out. And I internally rolled my eyes because I never dreamed he would make it. Then I looked down and there he was -- pressed against the stage. :)

how cool! we saw will smiff and yesterday went to the set of six degrees, by pal was an extra on it. seeing someone on the subway is much cooler because its so random and out of context, like matthew broderick amongst the commoners and all. i saw the announcer from conan sleeping on the 6 train once.

It was nice to meet you and I wish I could have met more people.
I saw Paul and Rusty on line with YoungRemy and Bionic, but didn't get the chance to meet anyone else.
I would have loved to be upfront with everyone, but standing for that long was hard enough. I have a sprained ankle on top of a bruised bone, so anything more than like 20 minutes standing is painful. Thanks to Bacardi I wasn't in THAT much pain until the next day lol
I'm going to try to get my friend's pix sometime over the weekend and I will post them on my album.

I don't even know where to begin. This trip was worth every last penny. I had to just jump online here at the airport before I got home, I couldn't wait to see all the pics and vids I'd been hearing about. This event waaay exceeded any of my greatest expectations.
Meeting all of you guys too was just, wow. What a bunch of cool fucking fans the Beastie Boys have. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I've never had so much fun in my life. It was quite overwhelming actually. (esp Adrock dancing 2 inches from my face?! ) I can't wait to get home and spend a moment looking at allll the footage. Yeah. Wow.

best show of my fuckin life!!!! I got about 40-50 pics maybe? Have some killer stories....the setlist was great, and a super fun set. I got the setlist and got it right next to me.... talked to Yauch during the show, while Adrock and Mike D were rappin and we exchanged a few words...went like this
Paul (mouthin to Yauch, grabbin jacket): Pretty cool huh?
Yauch: Ya, where did you get it?
Paul: Ebay
Yauch: Ebay!?!?
Paul: Ya, from Singapore....
that was too cool, also had a few other interactions like... while it was "quiet" and he was reading the setlist, i was like
Paul: "Shadrach?"
Yauch: HELL NO.
Paul: Car Thief?
Yauch: *shakes head*
I cant believe i forgot to mention Mike and MCA talkin about my jacket.... Mike was just buggin, his eyes were huge and lookin at the back of my jacket saying
"that guy has our jacket"
Yauch said some more things, but fuck, too much to remember.
OH, best time in my life. Ill be postin some pics from the gig, got some very good and nice close shots. Got to talk to each member of the boys after the gig aswell, more so with Yauch and he was asking about my jacket and we chatted it up as i was goin crazy in my mind...shook Mike D's hand and asked him about some of the upcoming gigs, and he was just sorta mumbling and then left and hopped right into a cab...and then shook Adrock's hand and said "great show", and he said "thanks" back and jumped in an SUV with Yauch.
Another cool memory from the show was i had my hand out and Yauch grabbed it and pulled me down onto the stage, made me fall over a camera guy. Was pretty sick....It was such an awesome experience meeting everyone....Pootytang, SteveonPoint,Miramanee,Bionic,YoungRemy,DandyFop,D ocumad,Lyneday, mellowlikejellow, bgirl, jennygirl,Rob Money,mae.....sick sick sick!

I laughed at MTV's description of Beastie Boys fans at the Gimme Shelter show:
"Most were the baseball-capped, T-shirt- or tube-top-clad types that, when they hear that the Beastie Boys are playing a benefit, come out of the woodwork."
Tube-top-clad?
Tube top? Who here wears a tube top? I really want to know.
Oh come on, you know we all had tube tops on underneath our respective clothing... Poots did too, I know it. I bought a tube top once and felt so ridiculous in it, never rocked it in public.
