Do you ever use something like the Color Index (http://www.amazon.com/Color-Index-Combinations-Formulas-Print/dp/1581802366/sr=8-1/qid=1158072734/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-2047053-1043901?ie=UTF8&s=books)? That can be fun. (y)

but skra, they're only paying me 50. :( +guest list and some beerz. and that singer is USHER.

az, I don't use computers to make stuff, I do everything by hand. I'll probs be coloring it with pastel. then we scan it and print it. I want to learn how to screen print stuff though.

thanks bionic.

You don't need to be a computer user to get ideas from that books. It's, like, a million color combinations in twos-through-fours, divided up by mood or connotation or whatever. It's great to just flip through if you feel a little stale.

ah. well, I pretty much know what I want to do...I just wanted to see if other people got another feel for it. It is meant to attract the masses after all. actually, if it were up to me, I'd just keep it white. I always want to do that, but then people are like, "HEY, PUT SOME COLOR!" and I'm all, "hmph!"

but they're usually right. :(

might ape this scheme too.
Painting it by hand will turn our more 60's ish anyways. Might wanna keep it tight, use masking tape and the like, like my pops did when he was in Design School.
Oh yeah you can pay me later. I'll start up a tab.

It's awesome and you know it. stop being gay and insecure. don't make me come there and kick your ass.

ha ha hah ahahah, okay, I was just checking. I always start second-guessing myself when it comes down to the wire. I'm in the midst of emailing back and forth with the drummer and I was considering giving him a sneak preview, but then I started freaking out that he'd want to change something, so I decided against it.

I wish i felt confident enough with watercolor to paint it that way. that would be 60's ish. mergh. maybe I'll take it to kinko's and copy it and practice.

I like the illustration a lot, but the lettering needs to really pop or it'll be hard to read. Unless that's what you want...?

(!) Agree, the script font may need some work, esp Subterrainean (sp?). May do white on black/dark background imo

I think the poster is great. I like the Foster's logo skra posted for a color scheme a lot (in fact I love that entire show but hey).

If you are uncertain, maybe even coloring it pretty loose in paint on the computer will help just so you know where to go with it.

I like it. I'd suggest colors similar to what b i o n i c mentioned: gold, bronze, brown etc....maybe some splashes of blue here and there.

the drawings are awesome in a john lennon, abe hirschfeld, children’s religion workbook kind of way

well, I'm doing this old school. no computers. as for Subterranean (correct spelling), I'm not worried about that so much, since it's a known venue and people will recognize it without really even reading it.

I definitely need to pop the names out more. I'm counting on the layout to attract people to it for a closer look, but I want them to be able to see the names from a reasonable distance too.

the foster's colors are pretty appealing.

meh, well, Ima take it to kinkos and make some copies. thanks everybody! :)

hence why I said "maybe even coloring it pretty loose in paint." I know you didn't want to use a computer, didn't know you were the tooth and nail about it though, apologies :)

Making copies though or color swatches may work too. good luck.

yes! thank you! well, I mean that's a big compliment, but the children's religion workbook idea is pretty much what I was going for. :) yay!

don't worry it took me like a second and I was doing it with one hand since I was eating lunch.
The script is gonna be hard to read unless you're going for the indie look. actually using fabric (did ba01 say that?) might be cool too, but very difficult. I reco making the 10 pm bigger and easier to read, maybe draw an old timey clock.

neat! computers are nuts!

maybe I should go back to school so I can actually learn how to be a designer or something.

unfortunately, it's pretty much in its final form as far as lettering and whatnot. I'm not too worried about the script. People only really need to see the S and the 30 to figure it out. plus the script is kinda "my thing". :/

this is the first one I did for them...I guess the name is a lot clearer...oh wells.

LOVE the poster.

I suggest some orange. Orange pops and the color goes great with the retro-ness of the poster's design.

I like the gold suggestion too.
