Has anyone heard of this? I've heard a couple times that if they can trace your family tree and if they find that someone down the lines is native american, you can earn cash by either grants or from casinos.

I've just recently heard about it again and now I'm curious. Does anybody know about this or can give me information?

I'm pretty white through and through so I can only earn cash by mailing envelopes from home or taking real estate seminars.

No way! My one friend is 10K in debt and he's part Native American. You can tell because he has this trait where his mustache doesn't touch his beard at all. He physically can't grow a goatee, just a little chin beard and a mustache. Way up the line, he got that from his Native American ancestors, he told me.

I'm lucky that I can grow the little scruff I've got on my chin. My grandpops is 100% Cherokee as well as my Pops and I can't grow a mustache.

I'm waiting for a response from my cousin and he will give me the proper guidelines on how to do this.

When I find out how this process is done, I'll be more than glad to send you info so that you can pass it on to your cousin.

Me gotta live in bigger teepee.

I don't know about the money thing, but to qualify for rez housing you have to be registered and in order to register, you have to be able to prove that you are descended from someone on the census that was taken in the 1800's.

Nah, not my cousin. My friend. My gay friend. Which means all of his money would go towards butt secks toys, no doubt.

But yeah, send it to me! :)

I had a fight with my sister over this. She thinks that all Native Americans are getting rich from the casinos. I hear that shit all the time.

Most tribes are crazy poor and don't have casinos. My friend is 100% and enrolled in her tribe but they're unbelievably poor.

The casinos are a very shaky subject. I mean, the reservations that have them are generating more money, but it creates more social problems too. A casino is almost synonomous with drinking and to put something like that in the midst of an ethnic group that is genetically prone to alcoholism, it's just not cool.

I'd also like to know how much money they get, even if they have a casino. There is usually a corporation's name on everything, and I assume that the corporation is taking a big cut.

Last week, I drove through a reservation that has a casino, and I noticed a lot of obvious and extreme poverty within the residential areas. So something appears to be broken.

see, that's what I mean. Building a casino could never be a cure-all. Aren't there poor neighborhoods in Vegas? I just don't understand why people thought that it would fix everything. And of course coprporations are taking the biggest chunk. Couldn't we see that coming? The Indians are being used once again.

If the reservations need help with their casinos and such, I'm sure Jack Abramoff would love to help them out, too.

there's grants out there for just about anything, like left handed-pogo-sticking accordian players. But the government doesn't go out of the way to let us know the money is availble if we apply.

I have a friend who wants to teach me grant writing. I'm totally down to learn.

Do you have to buy that book from that guy with all of the "?" all over jackets?

He annoys me. I shot my TV because him. Does he have "How to get a free TV from the government" in that book?

actually no. he is annoying and I think the book is a bit pricey. infomation about grants are available at any public library. al you have to do is be willig to put in the time to look for it.

anyone do any research on grants through the net? I bet there's info out there, but I never really looked.

My family is too new to this country. I have no native american ancestry at all.

I wonder if the Sons of Italy give grants...
